2026 MLPOA Lake Ed Day a Great Success!
It was simple math on the lake on June 4th, 2026! 8 pontoon boats captained by Lake Monomonac volunteers + 6 NH DES Limnologists armed with water quality testing gear + 30 curious 5th graders from Rindge Memorial School = a great day on the lake for MLPOA’s Lake Ed Day.

It was exciting to see how curious and engaged this group of 5th graders were. They tested the water quality on the lake with the education and guidance from the Limnologists.

Did You Know?

Lake Monomonac is an interstate body of water! Safety is our primary concern. Keep your boater certification up-to-date and register your boat!

NH Boat Registration
All motorized vessels, regardless of size, and sailboats 12 feet or longer must be registered. To register a boat in New Hampshire you must register in person at a DMV office, an authorized boat agent (many town clerk offices, Rindge included), or via mail with a completed boat registration application (link PDF, RDMN612)
https://www.dmv.nh.gov/vehicles-boats-or-titles/boat-registrations
This includes any boats regardless of length with motors over 25 hp. (Jet Skis)

MA Boat Registration
In Massachusetts, state law requires any motor-powered boat (including sailboats with motors, and personal watercraft like Jet Skis) operated on public waterways to be registered and titled.

Spring Clean-Up with Care!
TIP: Wait to rake! Beneficial animals like salamanders use last year’s leaves to stay warm until they can make their way to our lakes and ponds. When nights stay above 50F, dispose of yard waste like leaves and grass clippings properly away from lakes, streams, or storm drains.

WHY: Organic material adds excess nutrients to lakes, promoting harmful algae blooms.

Steve has declared ICE-OUT! Steve Gray has tracked Lake Monomonac ice-out dates for decades. Steve tells us the average ice-out date from 1965 to 1985 is April 11th. March 21st was the average ice-out date of the past 5 years. What does that tell us about our climate?

Check our website for his definition and history of ice-out dating back to 1951.
