This was written by Zach at Plowing Ahead. I don't know him, and I don't endorse any candidate at this time. Please investigate the candidates and vote in August!
I have always felt that opinions on politics are best keep to yourself. That being said tonight I'm breaking that rule. Yavapai county is at a tipping point and we need strong leadership as we move forward. Every week our local papers are filled with fights over poorly planned developments: Primrose Peak, Spring Creek, Bellagio, and unnecessary road projects that do not come remotely close to fixing traffic issues (Verde Connect) that we will be paying for for years come while still needing to fix the real problems. In July it was estimated that Yavapai county is as much as $55 million dollars in debt and our supervisors keep spending. District 3 supervisor Randy Garrison has proven to be a disaster, caring more about developers and his own personal accolades than those he was elected to represent. District 2 supervisor Tom Thurman chose not to stand up for those in his district even when he admitted that he knew the decisions he was agreeing to were wrong.
Our district supervisors have a ridiculous amount of power in our county as well as influence over state and federal decisions. We will be facing a number of serious issues in the near future including sustainable growth and water allocation that will not only affect those with irrigation rights but also everyone with a well in the Verde Valley. There are currently 14 candidates running for 5 county seats, 6 of those are running for district 2 alone. District 2 includes Camp Verde, Cornville, Mayer, Dewey-Humbolt, Black Canyon City, and a very small part of Prescott Valley.
It is the responsibly of all of us to do our research and put the best possible representative in office. We invited candidate Wiley Cline to our house today to meet with us, some friends, and neighbors to hear what his goals are if he is elected our representative. I found this meeting to be very enlightening and I would encourage others to do the same. You can learn more about him at [wileycline.com](https://l.facebook.com/l.php?u=http%3A%2F%2Fwileycline.com%2F%3Ffbclid%3DIwAR1qargxYDr4EBgCeLgO8YX2nU8uv1_XtmGmPdesnINyItJUkM-MHKDqsDk&h=AT35mTFvfh-QCiHgML_Zs1aoIp6aeFozyl0cJ1T0aLTTx29v80E9Lql1rx1g4TFIuiqCaAryfR5j0QQ8hijnq0qbGchsDcdbVVLj5NeaW_f1NtytCczyqcfalGXlVcl-BQ) so please take a few minutes and see what he's about. 5 of the 6 candidates are Republican and 1 an independent. The district 2 race will be decided at the primary on August 4 not in November so get informed. Knowledge is power.
Also, it needs to be said that district 2 candidate Brandi Bateman is in fact district 3 supervisor Randy Garrison's secretary and biggest supporter. This is politics at it's lowest form.
