🚑🔥 Meet Sophie

Originally from Charlotte, North Carolina, Sophie moved to Wilmington four years ago to attend college at UNCW. While in college, she earned both her EMT-Basic and Advanced EMT certifications and quickly found a passion for EMS.

After graduating from UNCW, she continued pursuing that passion and has now been working in EMS for over a year. She has been an Advanced EMT for the past six months and has been part of ADR Fire-Rescue for about six months as well.

ADR is her first EMS agency, and she chose ADR because of its supportive leadership and close-knit, family-oriented community. She shared that ADR has been a great place to grow as a provider.

She is currently enrolled in the paramedic program at Cape Fear Community College and expects to graduate in May 2027. Her long-term goal is to become a critical care flight paramedic or nurse, where she can continue challenging herself, learning, and growing as a provider.

We are proud of Sophie for how far she has come over the last several months, and were happy to support her on her journey.

Please help us recognize Sophie! 🚑🔥

Our hearts are heavy as we send our deepest condolences to the family, friends, and coworkers.

As first responders Law enforcement has always answered our call. They are the ones standing between us and the unknown on scenes that are unpredictable, dangerous, and sometimes heartbreaking. They show up when we need protection, when we need support, and when we need to know that we are not walking into the worst moments alone.

We may wear different uniforms and carry different titles, but we are all brothers and sisters in service.

Thank you for your sacrifice. Your service will never be forgotten.

ADR Fire-Rescue will be keeping Columbus county sheriff’s office in our thoughts and prayers-as well as anyone else who was involved in today’s incident. We ask that our community do the same.

🚑🚨Responder Spotlight

Meet Collin, who has been serving with ADR Fire-Rescue since January 2026 as an EMT-Basic.

He has one year of EMS experience, including time as a volunteer EMT with Union Rescue Squad and as an EMT with ADR Fire-Rescue. Collin also shadows a cardiothoracic PA, giving him additional exposure to patient care and the medical field.

When asked why he chose ADR, Collin shared that it was because of the great work atmosphere, coworkers and bosses who truly care, and ADR’s willingness — and excitement — to help members grow as providers.

Collin is currently attending UNCW, and after graduation, he hopes to continue his education by going to PA school or medical school with the goal of one day becoming a PA or physician.

We are proud to have Collin as part of the ADR Fire-Rescue family and appreciate the dedication and compassion he brings to our department and community.
