We talk a lot about site visits, but what does one look like? After submitting your request and giving us a little background information, one of our expert staff members will visit your property. They will discuss specific concerns and vulnerabilities for your property and offer tailored recommendations, as well as walk you through which of our programs might work best for you, all while providing you with the resources you need to make your home more resilient to wildfire.

When conducting a site visit, one of our biggest concerns is embers! In a wildfire, up to 90% of structure ignitions are caused by embers, rather than flames. They can also be carried several miles away from the original fire. So, during site visits, we look for places where embers can gather and create high heat or places where embers can enter the home, like gaps in windows and doors. If you’re interested in learning more, consider scheduling a site visit with us at cowildfire.org

When thinking about mitigation, we don’t just think about trees. We also have to keep beetles in mind! When vegetation is dense, not only is there more fuel and a higher risk for intense fire, but it also makes trees more susceptible to beetles. These beetles kill trees by eating bark and introducing fungus. If you're interested, here are some more facts about beetles and mitigation:
