The Ridgway Lions Club has been actively serving in the community since February 08, 1950. The Lions were started by a group of businessmen from Chicago, mainly Melvin Jones, he was the mind behind starting this club to give back to his community. Since then it has become worldwide in helping those in need. With Helen Keller asking them to be the knights to the blind this, became their first ventu
re in helping. Known with LCIF-Lions Club International Foundation, they are working on finding cures for Childhood cancer-there 5 diamond sponsorship, diabetes, world hunger, vision, humanitarian needs to name a few. We at the Ridgway Club sponsor a little league team each year, give a scholarship to a Senior from Ridgway, help with eye care, and many local projects. Our big projects were a donation to the skate park for their paving, raised funds and installed the therapeutic swing at O B Grant Park, purchasing 5 pagers and a thermal imaging camera for the Ridgway Fire department. This was done through our funds we raised and grant money from PA Lions of Pennsylvania Foundation. Through an emergency grant from LCIF we were able to provide a fogger to the Ridgway Ambulance to help with cleaning/disinfecting the ambulance after each use. We have our regular broom sale all year long, our Christmas Tree sale and annual Halloween Parade. The Ridgway Lions Club is always looking for members or just to help with a project.
