Last night, Ridgewood Toastmasters gathered for our year-end dinner to close out the term together.
A special congratulations to Bianca Costa, recognized as our Toastmaster of the Year. The honor reflects the consistency, growth, and generosity she brings to the club week after week.
We thanked our outgoing officers for their dedication this past year, and welcomed our incoming officers as they step into their new roles. Special thanks to our outgoing president, Nathaniel Wilson, and our incoming president, Anthony Morin. We were also glad to have District Leader Janice Buffalow join us for the evening as we continued to celebrate being the first club to reach Smedley Distinguished Club status. Achieving Smedley Distinguished status so early in the program year reflects strong leadership, engaged members, and a shared dedication to the Toastmasters mission.

Grateful for our last meeting speakers and new members!

Vinod Nair delivered one of the best Powerpoint presentations on How Language Impacts our Perspectives. Vinod's superpower proved to be his use of real examples to support his points, such as heatmaps of lost languages, imagery of alien languages from popular science fiction movies, and homophones.

Maria Bitagon delivered her first ice breaker, where she shared her journey of growth and family change. Maria recently moved from California to be closer to her family in New Jersey.

Louis Wasser talked to us about Leading in Difficult Situations, which was an engaging presentation that involved the audience in Q&A.

Maria Bitagon won best speaker, and Mike Lafond was voted as best evaluator. Julia Ulbreht joined our club as a new member.

What is Toastmasters? We asked a few of our members, and their answers say it better than any pitch we could write.

In this short video, Brian Moody, John Engeman, and Veronique Kleinman each share what Ridgewood Toastmasters means to them. The through-line we hear again and again is that it's less about the speeches and more about the confidence that carries into everything else.

Our club meets the 2nd and 4th Tuesday of every month, 7:00 to 9:15 PM, at 722 E. Ridgewood Ave., Ridgewood NJ 07450. We Zoom in July and August.

Guests are always welcome, with no pressure to speak. If you've been meaning to get involved, come sit in on a meeting. What would your answer be?

We are happy to announce that our club was the first to reach the Smedley Distinguished status in District 83! This is a great accomplishment, signifying that we have met every goal possible in the Distinguished Club Program.

This award is not just about membership numbers, but a holistic measure of a club's excellence in service, training, and education.
