Thank you to everyone that attended the Jean Hanff Korelitz Author Reception at Ridgewood Public Library. The night was a great success! Attendees enjoyed charcuterie, cookies and wine, followed by an illuminating conversation with the author, led by library assistant director, Roberta Panjwani. Jean discussed her three newest novels - 𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘗𝘭𝘰𝘵, 𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘚𝘦𝘲𝘶𝘦𝘭 and 𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘓𝘢𝘵𝘦𝘤𝘰𝘮𝘦𝘳. She also spoke about her side venture, BOOKTHEWRITER, where she connects award-winning authors to book groups. The night was made complete with a book signing for all attendees.

Last month we announced that the Friends and Foundation, two organizations supporting the Ridgewood Public Library, had united to form the Friends Foundation of the Ridgewood Public Library, but you may still be wondering who we are. Our organization is comprised of community volunteers who share a love for the library and a deep commitment to its success. We are stay-at-home parents, artists, retirees, executives, teachers and more lending our talents to promote and raise funds for the amazing programs and services of the library. All members of the Ridgewood community are welcome to join our organization. If you'd like more information on how you can contribute, send us a message here or email [email protected].

The decision to combine comes after careful consideration by both boards, with the goal of creating a stronger, more efficient organization. We will continue our efforts to supplement the library's public funding with renewed energy, unified purpose, and a strengthened ability to advocate for and support the library, ensuring the library’s vibrance as a community center today and for generations to come.

This development marks the beginning of an exciting new chapter of impact and growth in service of the Ridgewood Public Library and the community. Congratulations to past Author Luncheon speaker Geraldine Brooks on being awarded the 2025 Library of Congress Prize for American Fiction!

“One of the Library’s most prestigious awards, it honors an American literary writer whose body of work is distinguished by not only its mastery of the art, but also its originality of thought and imagination. The award seeks to recognize strong, unique, enduring voices that, throughout long and consistently accomplished careers, have told us something about the American experience.”

Geraldine Brooks has been named the recipient of the 2025 Library of Congress Prize for American Fiction! Check out videos of her prior appearances at the Library's National Book Festival, and make sure to catch her talk at this year's festival on September 6th.
