Congratulations to the Conservancy’s founder and former President, Maribeth Lane, for receiving the prestigious Perennial Bloom Award showing her dedication and commitment in the garden.

MARIBETH LANE, TCGC’s immediate past president and winner of Federated Garden Clubs of Maryland’s District 1 Perennial Bloom Award for 2025, has been selected from among Maryland’s five Federated District Perennial Bloom awardees to represent our state at the regional level. At the October meeting of the National Garden Club – Central Atlantic Region of State Garden Clubs, Maribeth will compete with six other state representatives (from DC, Delaware, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, and Pennsylvania) for regional honors.

The Perennial Bloom Award is a prestigious honor given to long-time members of garden clubs who show continuous support and leadership, essentially serving as the "backbone" of their organizations. Recipients are like a garden’s faithful perennials, helping their clubs grow through years of distinguished service.

The District 1 award led to installation of Maribeth’s favorite tree along the Rail Trail Extension in Easton earlier this spring.

In true community spirit, four village organizations have recently worked together to help beautify the central area of the Village.   The Ridgewood Beautification Team, the Women Gardeners of Ridgewood, the Conservancy for Ridgewood Public Lands and the Ridgewood Parks and Recreation Department have organized the planting of hundreds of annuals and several shrubs, in the Central Business District.

The Ridgewood Beautification Team has added more containers along the main streets and has filled them with a selection of colorful annuals.  Recognizing the July Celebration of our 250th Anniversary, a red, white, and blue theme has been selected.

The Women Gardeners of Ridgewood, which maintains the Van Neste gardens along East Ridgewood Avenue, has donated fifteen flowering shrubs and a dogwood tree.  In addition, at the request of the National Garden Club and the Garden Club of NJ, the Women Gardeners, in conjunction with the Conservancy for Ridgewood Public Lands, have filled the large urns by the War Memorial and Gold Star Memorial with red, white, and blue flowers, honoring all Veterans for their service.

This could not have been accomplished without the support and help of the Ridgewood Parks and Recreation Department, along with the many volunteers who organized these projects, and who came out to help plant.
