Through performance and education, we bring Balinese gamelan to the widest audience and participant base possible, and we endeavor to perform with spirit, dedication and gratitude.

Back with another spotlight, featuring one of our newest dance members - Angela!!! Angela has taken her interest in her own cultural dances and expanded that into a general curiosity about cultural dances worldwide, leading her to Hawaiian Hula, Japanese folk dance, and now, traditional Balinese dance. She also hosts the best bahasa quizzes, ensuring our members bahasa Indonesia journeys are in tip top shape for Bali this summer, iykyk 😆

We’re still glowing after SPRINGTIME SUPERNOVA a couple of weeks ago at our home base at Ridgewood Presbyterian Church / . Thanks to our wonderful community, and generous audience— including many first-timers—who shared their fantastic energy with us on a beautiful Sunday afternoon.

If you missed this show, there are two more opportunities to see us before we head to Bali in June. Send us off on our first official tour of Bali since 2010 with hometown spirit!

Importantly, our tour will culminate in the recording of an album which will capture more than a decade of contemporary works written for our ensemble. Please consider contributing to our fundraiser to help with the costs of recording, offerings for divine inspiration, compensation to Balinese artists contributing to the ensemble, as well as to post production. We’d love for you to be part of this very special project with us!

Next up on spotlight, we’re so excited to introduce the inimitable Oliver! Some know him as Mas Budi Street Food, serving up delicious Indonesian street bites at food festivals across New York. Others know him as Oliver, musician at Gamelan Dharma Swara! Learn how listening to gamelan was a part of his childhood, and why a trip to learn from Balinese masters means so much to him.
