Good morning all!
Trooper update! He is still holding great! This week we will put shoes back on, which I pulled a little bit ago to treat this horrible thrush. After getting shoes, he will go to my other barn right down the road to be able to be out 24/7 with the other geldings since he doesn’t need stall rest anymore! Trooper is the sweetest horse, first to meet you at the gate and very easy to handle!

On the flip side, people keep asking how they can help! You can help by donating! You can donate towards the vet bills, directly to the rescue, or donate items we need! Will list the info below! Every donation helps so I can continue to rescue and rehab horses!

Morning y’all!
Wanted to give y’all an update!
So far we have been in the clear. Troopers temperature has been steady, check it twice a day! He is now starting turnout and hoping grass will help him start gaining more weight too! In the next month, if all goes well he will be ready for adoption. His future as far as anything beside a pasture horse is unknown but our vets believe he might** be fine for a light trail horse if he continues the way he does! He is way younger than we thought at only 2.5-3 years old and he is almost 17h. He is very sweet, let’s us do whatever he needs, cross ties, bathed and trailers well. If interested, please pm me and we can talk! Thanks everyone for the amazing support!

Hey all, I know a lot of y’all been asking if trooper is still with us, the answer is for right now yes. It’s been a very difficult decision and after I posted the last status his fever dropped. His fever has dropped and stayed down since. I have consulted with my vets and we agreed some more time wouldn’t hurt. The fever could of been due to stress or it still can be due to the infection. Right now troopers life is day by day. I don’t know what a week from now, or a month from now will hold. As long as he is staying comfy, no fevers and his leg is heeling then he will stay with us.
Thanks everyone as always 🦄

Sad update...
trooper spent the last week at the vet getting perfusions on his leg to try to attack the infection full force. We just brought him home Friday and this am he had a high fever. That being said there is nothing else we can do for him. The infection is too much. I will humanely Euthanize him this week... 🦄

P.S thank you all the suggestions but at the end of the day the well being for trooper long term is the key point. We have tried everything, but the way everything was cut down to the bone has made this “cut” very hard to treat and get rid of infection. His tendon sheath is involved and the infection is not
going away in it. He has been on meds orally, meds iv, all types of different antibiotics and procedures performed! I appreciate everyone’s advice but I am
making this decision because I know it’s right and I know I tried everything I could!

Hey! Update on trooper! Wednesday he was seen by our vet and a perfusion was performed. It’s where we put antibiotics directly into the area affected. We decided Monday trooper will go to the clinic and stay all week for this to be performed multi times in the week. This is his best chance right now, as he has been having a low grade fever all week and been controlling it with banamine. We are still taking donations to go towards his climbing vet bills. If you want to donate I will post our info below!
