Safe Water RIM is an outreach ministry of Ranch International Ministries and is dedicated to bringing safe drinking water to people without in Uganda and other parts of Africa, Mexico and the Americas. The vision for SWR is to bring clean, safe drinking water where it is desperately needed in Africa, Mexico and the Americas in order to improve family and community health and reduce infant/child mo
rtality. The work of SWR currently focuses around end-user water sanitation and health and point of use water technologies such as the family biosand filter (BSF). We also recognize the critical need for sustainable small-scale enterprise to generate income and a sense of worth in the communities we are touching, therefore the SWR model includes the establishment of locally owned and operated BSF manufactories in these communities. This vision is being achieved through a vocational school approach – training young people in the manufacture, installation and operational monitoring of BSF’s, and community outreach training in the subject of water sanitation and health…and then resourcing them to establish BSF-based microbusinesses.
