Good afternoon,
This posting is on behalf of the Richmond Education Association (REA).

Retaliation is the act of harming or getting back at someone to an act or perceived harm.

We have been here before under this current Central Office leadership. The last time Richmond Education Association publicly stated major criticism on the Central Office leadership of
Richmond Community Schools, the Central Office leadership followed this game plan:

1. Central Office leadership will look for a policy that the leader of REA may have not followed.

2. Once this policy has been identified, then the Human Resource Officer will call for a meeting with the employee and place them on administrative leave while an investigation by the Human Resource Officer. The employee will be on administrative leave until the
matter is fully investigated.

3. When the Human Resource Officer completes the investigation they will call for a meeting with the employee. At this meeting, the Human Resource officer will inform the employee, that their contract will be recommend to be cancelled. This will begin the
termination/separation process for the employee. The employee has five days to appeal and request a meeting on this recommendation of contract cancellation.

4. The Superintendent will set a date for the employee appeal and conduct the meeting. The employee will present an augment why they should remain employed by RCS. The Superintendent will then come to a decision. Either the employee should continued to be
employed by RCS or to recommend termination of the employee’s contract. This termination threatens the employees salary, retirement and pension.

5. When the Superintendent make a decision to cancel the contract of the employee, the employee has five days to appeal to the School Board. This is very risky for the employee because of the potential loss of their pension and retirement.

6. We hope this will not come to fruition as the result of the recent vote of no confidence that REA took towards RCS Central Office Leadership, as has happened in the past.

Good afternoon, This posting is on behalf of the Richmond Education Association (REA).

After careful consideration and in alignment with our responsibility to protect the integrity and future of our school corporation, the Executive Board of Richmond Education Association has charged us, with conducting a vote of no confidence in the leadership of the Central Office.

This decision is not made lightly. It reflects ongoing and serious concerns in three critical areas:

Poor Leadership: Effective leadership requires vision, forethought, responsibility, and the ability to unite stakeholders toward a common goal. Unfortunately, our current leadership has consistently failed to provide direction, respond to challenges, or represent the best interests of our school community. This has resulted in declining confidence in the Central Office leadership. 98.4% of the votes cast indicated that they have no confidence in the leadership of Central Office due to poor leadership.

Poor Communication: A strong corporation depends on clear, honest, and timely communication. Educators deserve to be informed, heard, and engaged. Instead, communication has been inconsistent, unclear, and at times altogether absent. This breakdown has created confusion, eroded trust, and disconnected them from Central Office leadership. This disconnection greatly impacts the very people they are meant to serve. 98.4% of the votes cast indicated that they have no confidence in the leadership of Central Office due to poor communication.

Fiscal Mismanagement: There has been a pattern of financial decisions that lack transparency, accountability, and sound judgment by the current Central Office leadership. Our financial resources must be managed with discipline and foresight. Instead, we have questionable allocations that put the financial stability of Richmond Community Schools in jeopardy under the current Central Office leadership. 99.2% of the votes cast indicated that they have no confidence in the leadership of Central Office due to fiscal mismanagement.

Taken together, it is our opinion that these failures have undermined the foundation of Richmond Community Schools, led by our Central Office leadership. Leadership must be held accountable to its stakeholders and our community. When accountability is not met, it is our duty to act with this vote of no confidence in Central Office leadership.

REA would like to give a shout-out to RCS for the Teacher Appreciation Week treats—they were a kind gesture! But, in all honesty, it was disappointing to see no public word of support from our Central Office Leadership.

Our teachers aren't just employees; they are mentors, heroes, and the heart of our community. Seeing their hard work go unacknowledged at the highest level makes it feel like their impact is being overlooked.

Richmond Community, let’s show them the love that leadership missed.
