Good afternoon,
This posting is on behalf of the Richmond Education Association (REA).
Retaliation is the act of harming or getting back at someone to an act or perceived harm.
We have been here before under this current Central Office leadership. The last time Richmond Education Association publicly stated major criticism on the Central Office leadership of
Richmond Community Schools, the Central Office leadership followed this game plan:
1. Central Office leadership will look for a policy that the leader of REA may have not followed.
2. Once this policy has been identified, then the Human Resource Officer will call for a meeting with the employee and place them on administrative leave while an investigation by the Human Resource Officer. The employee will be on administrative leave until the
matter is fully investigated.
3. When the Human Resource Officer completes the investigation they will call for a meeting with the employee. At this meeting, the Human Resource officer will inform the employee, that their contract will be recommend to be cancelled. This will begin the
termination/separation process for the employee. The employee has five days to appeal and request a meeting on this recommendation of contract cancellation.
4. The Superintendent will set a date for the employee appeal and conduct the meeting. The employee will present an augment why they should remain employed by RCS. The Superintendent will then come to a decision. Either the employee should continued to be
employed by RCS or to recommend termination of the employee’s contract. This termination threatens the employees salary, retirement and pension.
5. When the Superintendent make a decision to cancel the contract of the employee, the employee has five days to appeal to the School Board. This is very risky for the employee because of the potential loss of their pension and retirement.
6. We hope this will not come to fruition as the result of the recent vote of no confidence that REA took towards RCS Central Office Leadership, as has happened in the past.
