Stonewall Sports Richmond is an LGBTQ & Ally community-based, non-profit sports league that strives to raise funds for local non-profit organizations.

Our league values each player for who they are and what they bring to the league’s community.

Please join us in welcoming Asia to Stonewall Sports Richmond!

This summer, Sand Volleyball Remix season is Asia’s first with Stonewall. She decided to join Stonewall to build a stronger community and to try to make friends because making friends as an adult is unnecessarily hard. So far, the season has been really good! Her team is very supportive and friendly, and made starting Stonewall less scary than my brain made it out to be.

To prospective members, Asia would say, Just do it! Whether you know how to play a sport or not, it’s a great way to put yourself out there and try something new! You never know what you’d be missing if you try!

We’re so glad to have you, Asia. Welcome to Stonewall RVA! 💙🏳️‍🌈

Row House, one of our newest sponsors, is inviting Stonewall Sports Richmond members to join them for free expo classes this summer. This will be an introductory, low-impact cardio-and-strength class open to everyone, regardless of fitness level. Register online, and you will be guaranteed a spot in the class. The class will be on June 18th from 7:00 PM to 7:30 PM at Row House in Willow Lawn. Hope to see you there!

Virginia Pride is hosting a pride-themed trivia night at The Park RVA from 6 PM to 8 PM. Some of the categories are Pride History, Music & Pop Culture, and LGBTQ+ Icons. Bring your friend and celebrate Pride.

TransJamRVA is presenting a Q***r All Weekend at Gallery 5 from June 20 -21.
Gay All Day on June 20th is a fest focused on sharing resources, building the LGBTQ+ Community, and having fun! Daytime festivities on Saturday are free to all, and the nighttime event is an 18+ event and requires a ticket purchase.

Trans All Night, an evening of music, art, and performance by local trans and gender non-conforming musicians & artists on June 21st from 5 - 10 at Gallery 5. A ticket is required for this event as well, and the ticket link can be found on our Linktree.

🔆Board Member Spotlight🔆

We are happy to welcome our new Sponsorship Director to the Stonewall Sports Richmond Board, Cassie Vestal

Cassie joined Stonewall because an old friend had asked her to join their team. It was comprised of old faces reuniting and new friends that she never knew she needed. Cassie strengthened relationships and made lifelong friends she now can’t imagine doing life without. She fell in love with the Stonewall community and has played every season since then.

Cassie’s favorite sport is kickball. However, she would probably say that she does more dancing than kicking on the field. She is looking forward to meeting more people, letting more people in Richmond know about our organization, and cultivating those bonds within our community through sponsorship. She would love to see the lines of sponsorship and participation melt into strong relationships within our Stonewall family. Please join us in welcoming her back on the board!👏

We are happy to welcome our new Dodgeball Director to the Stonewall Sports Richmond Board, Katie Gallant
Katie joined Stonewall to meet new people in a community to be a part of and to have fun while moving their body. Kickball and dodgeball are tied as their favorite sports in Stonewall. They love that both are fast-paced and require working together.
Katie is looking forward to serving on the board to help Stonewall RVA continue to grow and find new ways for others to get involved! Please join us in welcoming them to the board!👏

Sunny tea day part at New York Deli from 1-7! Remember to bring your dollars because we will have epic pop-up drag performances!

First Game Day for this season on Sand Volleyball Remix! The first game starts at 11 am, and the last game starts at 1 pm. Sunday is expected to be a hot day, so make sure to stay hydrated

To every player, volunteer, captain, umpire, sponsor, and base refs, thank you. Because of you, we get to show up, be ourselves, build community, and absolutely slay down boots week after week!

🌈 Happy Pride Month from your Stonewall Sports Richmond Board! 🌈

From all of us to our incredible community: thank you for showing up, supporting one another, and helping create a space where everyone can belong.

Pride began as a movement for visibility, equality, and liberation. It was built by brave LGBTQIA+ individuals who refused to stay silent and fought for the rights and freedoms many of us enjoy today. Their courage reminds us that Pride is more than a celebration, it’s a promise to continue building a world where every person can live authentically and without fear.

You can’t spell community without unity. In times that can feel uncertain or divisive, our strength comes from standing together, lifting one another up, and creating spaces where everyone feels seen, valued, and loved.

Family isn’t always the one we’re born into sometimes it’s the one we build together on game days, at social events, and through the friendships that become lifelong bonds.

This month, and every month, let’s continue to be visible. Let’s continue to be joyful. Let’s continue to be unapologetically q***r, loud, and PROUD.
