Finding community can make all the difference.

For Ms. Mona, staying positive means connecting with others who understand the challenges of living with vision loss. Through the MedRVA Low Vision Clinic, she has found support, encouragement, and a community that helps her navigate life with macular degeneration.

At the MedRVA Foundation, we’re proud to provide services that empower individuals with low vision to build connections, gain confidence, and re-establish their independence.

A child’s vision can change the way they learn and experience the classroom.

For some, the board is blurry. For others, reading feels harder than it should. Many don’t realize anything is wrong at all; they’ve just learned to adapt.

That’s where our work begins.

Through the MedRVA Foundation Vision Screening Program, we provide quick, gentle screenings that help uncover vision challenges early and guide families toward the care they may need. In a few minutes, we can help shift a child’s experience from uncertainty to clarity.

Clear vision can change how a child learns, participates, and grows. These small moments of discovery can open the door to big differences in confidence and learning.

We are proud to support our community in this way, one child, one screening, one clearer view at a time.

Today is Global Accessibility Awareness Day, a reminder that accessibility is not optional. It is essential.

At the MedRVA Foundation, this commitment is reflected in the care we provide every day through our Low Vision Clinic and supportive services. We work with patients experiencing vision loss to help them maintain independence, confidence, and connection to the world around them.

Our occupational therapy support plays a key role in that journey, helping patients learn how to use adaptive tools and strategies that make daily life more accessible and manageable. From navigating home environments to building new routines, the focus is always on what is possible.

Accessibility means more than accommodation. It means dignity, independence, and the ability to live fully at every stage of vision.

Fun, learning, and community connection made the Children's Museum of Richmond’s Kindergarten Readiness Events such a special experience for our team. 💜

The MedRVA Foundation Vision Screening Program had a wonderful time meeting local families and providing FREE, quick, non-invasive vision screenings with instant results for children throughout the events. Kids had the opportunity to see images of their eyes, learn a little more about vision and eye health, and engage with our team in a fun, welcoming environment, while parents received helpful information about their child’s vision.

Throughout the events, our team screened several children for potential vision concerns and provided optometric referrals for those who may benefit from additional care. Experiences like these are a meaningful way to help families learn more about eye health early, while making the process approachable, educational, and positive for children.
