Every child needs someone who’s on their side – someone who cares about what happens to them and works to ensure their highest good. ChildFund is a global community of people who care about children and take action to help them live at their fullest potential at every stage of their lives. We focus on helping children grow up healthy, educated, skilled and safe throughout their journey from birth

to young adulthood, working through 200+ local grassroots organizations globally to create the environments children need to succeed. Last year, with these partners' support, we reached 14.8 million children and family members with critical programs and services. About 200,000 Americans support our work by joining our ChildFund Village monthly giving community, sponsoring individual children or investing in ChildFund programs. Join our movement at ChildFund.org! A NOTE FOR SPONSORS: We know many of you are excited to share about your sponsored child, and this is great! It's a special relationship in your life that deserves to be celebrated. However, it's important to keep in mind child protection and safety if you choose to share about your sponsored child on social media or elsewhere. Please do not share the child's last name or details about where they live. This shows respect for your sponsored child's privacy and helps to keep them safe! Remember, it’s never appropriate to share the child’s sponsorship identification number or detailed family information online.

🚨 You’ve probably heard about Ebola in the news recently. But do you know how the deadly outbreak in the DRC and Uganda is affecting children? https://childfund.pulse.ly/ih9c0vwrcq

Ebola puts children’s health and even their lives at risk, with up to 80% of children under 5 dying from the disease after they get sick. Even those who don't fall ill face major disruptions to their lives—everything from school closures to psychological trauma from the illness or death of parents, family members and friends. Right now, we’re working hand in hand with our trusted local partners to address all these challenges and more.

When you give to our Emergency Action Fund, you send urgently needed relief to children and families facing life-threatening emergencies like these. Donate now!

This is what child protection looks like. šŸ’Æ

Child protection isn’t always about working with adults to keep kids safe. Sometimes, it’s about teaching children themselves how they can know what safety feels like. In Honduras, Emelda and her friends are learning about safe and unsafe touch, how to stay safe on social media and what to do when something feels wrong.

Our child protection programs around the globe teach valuable skills that children can use for a lifetime to protect themselves from violence both online and offline. Learn more at the link in our bio!

Did you know that children’s mental health is on the decline in the U.S.?

It’s true: According to the CDC, about 1 in 5 U.S. children today face a serious mental or emotional health challenge by the time they’re 17. These numbers are even higher in low-income communities, where struggles like poverty, food insecurity and violence are more prevalent and can create developmentally toxic levels of stress in children.

Watch šŸŽ„ how the No Pressure Zones you support in South Texas schools help children overcome their biggest sources of stress and build resilience to life’s challenges.

Letter writing is one of the simplest ways to build a meaningful connection with your sponsored child.

Being mindful about what you include and what you leave out helps keep that experience positive and supportive for them. šŸ’š

We love a sponsored child success story šŸ™ŒšŸ¼

Emmanuel Ndeya, widely known as Ken Dumbo, is a comedian, journalist, social media influencer and event host well-known in Zambia’s media and entertainment landscape. Behind his success is a journey shaped by mentorship through ChildFund Zambia.

As a sponsored child, Ken had the opportunity to participate in child and youth advocacy platforms where young people had a space to interact with civic leaders, discuss issues affecting children’s lives and contribute to community dialogue.

ā€œChildFund gave me more than school support,ā€ he says. ā€œI was given opportunities to speak, to be listened to, and to understand that my voice mattered. Meeting leaders as a child made me believe that I, too, could influence change.ā€

Today, those early lessons are reflected in Ken Dumbo’s work as a journalist and digital influencer. He uses his platforms to highlight social issues affecting vulnerable communities—sharing stories from underserved schools, promoting health awareness and amplifying development initiatives that often go unnoticed. Through humor and storytelling, he engages and entertains his audiences while drawing attention to matters of public interest.

ā€œI come from a community where many young people have dreams but lack opportunities,ā€ Ken says. ā€œIf my story can encourage even one child to believe in themselves or speak up, then I know I am using my platform well.ā€
