The audience loved last night’s performance of Women’s Monologues Based on the Alphabet carring them through a remarkable emotional journey, filled with laughter, wit, tenderness, and reflection. Moments of sharp humor and joyful recognition echoed throughout the theater, while deeply personal stories brought silence, tears, and heartfelt connection. Written and directed by Afshin Hashemi, the production revealed the many dimensions of the human experience, inviting audiences to laugh together, grieve together, and ultimately leave the theater moved by the power of storytelling and the shared emotions that unite us all.

Thirty years later, Axiom of Choice returned to the stage in San Francisco — and what unfolded on Saturday night was far more than a concert. It was a reunion of memory, identity, resistance, and healing through music.
Founded by Mamak Khadem and Ramin Torkian, Axiom of Choice helped redefine contemporary Iranian music by weaving Persian classical traditions with global and contemporary sounds. Their influence continues to echo across generations of Iranian and diasporic artists.
In a time marked by pain, uncertainty, and deep emotions surrounding Iran and its people, this gathering became a powerful reminder of the beauty, depth, and resilience of Iranian culture. The energy in the room — shared by artists and audience alike — was emotional, electric, and unforgettable.
Diaspora Arts Connection is honored to have produced this historic reunion and to have witnessed a community come together through the universal language of music.
Here is a brief glimpse into a truly magical evening in San Francisco.
