We have officially reached the halfway point of Camp Achieve 2026. Four weeks down and four more to go! 💙☀️

This year, our Camp Achieve teachers completely refreshed the camp curriculum, creating new, engaging lessons and hands-on activities to bring fresh learning experiences to our students all summer long.

Students have explored enrichment experiences in chess, dance, music, poetry, skateboarding, STEM, social-emotional learning, and more. They have built new skills, discovered new interests, and made lasting friendships along the way.

Summer has also included weekly swim days and weekly field trips, giving students opportunities to stay active and explore beyond the classroom.

Thank you to our students, families, teachers, enrichment providers, and site staff for making the first half of Camp Achieve 2026 such a success. We can’t wait to see what the next four weeks have in store!

🏫 Students from 7 of 9 WCCUSD high schools
💚 $36,500 in scholarships awarded (up from $19,500 last year!)
📈 A 31% increase in scholarship applications

Applications are now open for Richmond Freedom School Summer 2026!

Richmond Freedom School is a FREE summer program for WCCUSD students in grades TK–7th that combines literacy, cultural enrichment, social-emotional learning, and fun summer experiences in a supportive community environment. Students will participate in small-group learning, weekly field trips, enrichment activities, meals/snacks, and more.

This year’s afternoon enrichment includes music, dance, gardening, skateboarding, chess, public speaking, robotics, art, and more!

Program Dates: June 22 – July 31, 2026
Location: Nystrom Elementary School
Hours: Monday–Friday, 8:30 AM–3:30 PM

Deadline Extended: Apply by April 19!

The Ed Fund’s 2026 Scholarship Application deadline has been extended. This is an opportunity to support graduating seniors pursuing college, careers, and skilled trades.

What to know:

-Multiple scholarships available through one application
-All scholarships are open to WCCUSD seniors (Class of 2026)
-The Building the Future Scholarship (for the trades) is also open to WCCUSD alumni (Class of 2020–2025), current WCC Adult Education students, and those who earned their GED between 2020–2025

Scholarships available:

-African American Scholarship (for African American/Black students)
-Building the Future Scholarship (for students pursuing skilled trades and technical career pathways)
-Contra Costa Chorale Vocal Music Studies Scholarship (for students involved in choir and vocal performance)
-Excellence in Education Scholarship (all WCCUSD seniors)
-Freggarrio Family Scholarship (Richmond High School seniors)
-Schroeder Family Foundation Scholarship (El Cerrito High School seniors)

All applicants must demonstrate financial need and complete the FAFSA or California Dream Act Application (unless not AB 540 eligible; not required for applicants to the Building the Future Scholarship). Additional eligibility requirements vary by scholarship.
