We’re excited to support arts-based projects that celebrate the cultures, heritages, identities, and lived experiences of WCCUSD students. Students, educators, administrators, parents, and community members are all invited to apply!

Funding is available for classroom projects, schoolwide projects, and community events, including cultural celebrations, murals, student art exhibitions, music and dance performances, storytelling projects, family cultural nights, and more.

Have an idea that celebrates the cultures, heritages, identities, and lived experiences of WCCUSD students through the arts? We want to help bring it to life!

Students, educators, administrators, parents, and community members can apply for funding for projects like Hispanic Heritage Month and Native American Heritage Month celebrations, cultural festivals, murals, performances, storytelling, identity-based art, and intersectionality projects that celebrate the many identities and experiences that make up our community. 🎭🎶🖌️

💫 Up to $500 for classroom projects
💫 Up to $1,000 for schoolwide projects supporting 3+ classrooms
💫 Up to $1,500 for community events

The Ed Fund was on KTVU!

Our Senior Director of Strategic Partnerships, Shakira Williams Reynolds, joined KTVU’s morning news to share how the Ed Fund works to mobilize resources for the students, educators, and communities who need them most — helping create the conditions for every student in West Contra Costa to thrive.

For Shakira, this work is also personal. As a Richmond native, she has the opportunity to do this work right here at home, giving back to the community that helped shape her. 💙

Back-to-School Mini-Grants are NOW OPEN!

We know teachers put so much into getting their classrooms ready for a new school year, including spending their own money on supplies. That’s why, for the fourth year in a row, the Ed Fund is offering $250 Back-to-School Mini-Grants to WCCUSD teachers to help with classroom setup and supply needs.

•All WCCUSD teachers are eligible to apply
•Priority will go to first-year teachers and teachers who haven’t received an Ed Fund grant before

Apply by September 7, 2026

Grants will be awarded on a rolling basis while funds are available, so we encourage teachers to apply early!

We have officially reached the halfway point of Camp Achieve 2026. Four weeks down and four more to go! 💙☀️

This year, our Camp Achieve teachers completely refreshed the camp curriculum, creating new, engaging lessons and hands-on activities to bring fresh learning experiences to our students all summer long.

Students have explored enrichment experiences in chess, dance, music, poetry, skateboarding, STEM, social-emotional learning, and more. They have built new skills, discovered new interests, and made lasting friendships along the way.

Summer has also included weekly swim days and weekly field trips, giving students opportunities to stay active and explore beyond the classroom.

Thank you to our students, families, teachers, enrichment providers, and site staff for making the first half of Camp Achieve 2026 such a success. We can’t wait to see what the next four weeks have in store!

This year, the Ed Fund proudly awarded:

✨ 25 scholarships
🏫 Students from 7 of 9 WCCUSD high schools
💚 $36,500 in scholarships awarded (up from $19,500 last year!)
📈 A 31% increase in scholarship applications

The numbers tell a story of ambition, resilience, and a community that believes in its students.

To our scholars: thank you for sharing your dreams with us. We are honored to be a small part of your journey and can’t wait to see the impact you’ll make in your communities and beyond.

Applications are now open for Richmond Freedom School Summer 2026!

Richmond Freedom School is a FREE summer program for WCCUSD students in grades TK–7th that combines literacy, cultural enrichment, social-emotional learning, and fun summer experiences in a supportive community environment. Students will participate in small-group learning, weekly field trips, enrichment activities, meals/snacks, and more.

This year’s afternoon enrichment includes music, dance, gardening, skateboarding, chess, public speaking, robotics, art, and more!

Program Dates: June 22 – July 31, 2026
Location: Nystrom Elementary School
Hours: Monday–Friday, 8:30 AM–3:30 PM
