Juneteenth honors freedom and the ongoing work toward opportunity, justice, and shared progress.

Today, CVAACC honors the generations who built strong communities and opened doors that shape our lives, businesses, and futures.

Their legacy lives on in every entrepreneur who chooses to start a business, every leader who creates opportunity, and every community member who supports Black business excellence.

As we celebrate Juneteenth, we recognize that there is still work ahead, such as building businesses that create lasting economic strength for generations.

Let this day inspire us to reflect, celebrate, and commit to strengthening Black-owned businesses across Central Virginia.

“If you see a need, don’t ask why somebody doesn’t do something. Be that somebody.” –Marian Wright Edelman, activist

Real change rarely begins at the perfect moment or with unlimited resources. It usually starts when someone steps in, speaks up, builds something meaningful, or creates an opportunity where none existed before.

That spirit drives so many entrepreneurs and leaders throughout our community. They invest in people, neighborhoods, and ideas that deserve room to grow.

At CVAACC, we proudly support those who act and choose purpose over complacency. Progress happens because someone is willing to lead and move first.

It was a pleasure to have our Managing Director, Charmaine Tucker, who brings over 23 years of experience as a business owner in the sales industry, serve as a guest facilitator at Virginia State University.

She shared real-world insights with students on Sales, Knowing Your Audience, and Finding Customers, emphasizing the importance of confidence, clear communication, and closing with intention.

A special thank you to Jonathan Young, Director of Corporate Relations & Strategic Communications, for the invitation.

Grateful to work alongside an incredible group of professionals who poured into these students and reinforced key lessons around networking, authenticity, confidence, and trust in business.

Experiences like this are how we continue to pour into the next generation of leaders and entrepreneurs.
