The confusion is over! 🪧 No more wondering, “Where’s the Trail?” 👀

We’ve heard from visitors that navigating two turns along the Trail, just past Great Shiplock Park and Charles City Courthouse, can be confusing for first-time users. 🔎 🗺 The good news? Two new wayfinding signs are here to point the way and make following the Trail a whole lot easier! 🪧🚲

A big THANK YOU to Virginia Department of Transportation for installing the signs and helping visitors navigate the Trail a little more smoothly! 🙌🏾

Who knew picking up litter could be so much fun! 🗑️ A huge thank-you to everyone who came out to give the Capital Trail a little fall cleaning over the weekend! 🍂

From individuals to groups who adopted a mile (and sometimes even 2 or 3 🤩!), you rolled out of bed early on a Saturday ⏰, rolled up your sleeves 💪, and got to work keeping the Trail and our communities clean and beautiful. 🌳✨ We are so grateful for you!

This year’s cleanup also marked the 11th year of Angela Bright’s fall cleanup! 🎉 A special thank-you to Angela for keeping this tradition going and to all our Cap Trail cleanup crews and Adopt-a-Trail participants for pitching in! 🙌🏾 THANK YOU!

Curious how much we accomplished together? Check out next week’s Trail Mix for the final cleanup counts! 📰

🌳 Happy Community Thursday! Who doesn’t love exploring new trails and connecting with fellow outdoor enthusiasts? 🚲

Yesterday, members of Virginia’s Outdoor Recreation Caucus, in town for the 250th anniversary of the House of Delegates, met up for a ride along the planned Virginia Capital Trail Extension route in Williamsburg!

Legislators and staff from across the Commonwealth enjoyed the ride, discussed outdoor recreation, and welcomed Virginia’s new Director of Outdoor Recreation, Heather Barrar. 🏞️

Thank you to the City of Williamsburg, for your help and hospitality; Williamsburg on Wheels and E-Bike Alley for providing the bikes; Williamsburg Police Department for keeping everyone safe; and the Virginia Trails Alliance for helping make it happen!
