Stay Strong VA Eating Disorders Resources & Support A unique program in the Metro Richmond area that raises awareness, educates, and connects individuals and families affected by eating disorders. No fees

Stay Strong Is:
1. raising public awareness by hosting quarterly events at the the Virginia Farm Bureau Corporate Headquarters.

2. providing educational opportunities via presentations to school systems, mental health, agencies and youth programs.

3. exhibiting at conferences and resource fairs to raise awareness and provide literature to the community.

4. distributing eating disorder liter

ature to community healthcare providers.

5. facilitating a monthly support group for families and friends who are supporting a loved one affected by an eating disorder.

6. making a lending library available to families and friends with materials specific to eating disorders.

7. connecting families by recommending appropriate comprehensive treatment facilities -either hospitalization, residential, partial hospitalization, intensive inpatient or intensive outpatient services.

8. connecting families with local eating disorder specialists: registered dietitians, psychiatrists and therapists.

9. supporting the Eating Disorder Coalition and National Eating Disorders Association through conferences, lobby days and fundraising events.

The Carolyn Costin institute connects individuals with trained coaches, many of whom bring both professional knowledge and lived experience.
