Wow! Richmond VegFest was a fun whirlwind! 💚

A huge thank you to every single person who stopped by our booth for a conversation, picked up literature, grabbed an adorable temporary tattoo, or took home free Certified Vegan products. We are grateful to be a part of this wonderful community!

Another big, big thank you to Harrison St. Cafe for passing out delicious food samples and to all of our business partners who donated the wonderful products we shared with everyone.

Did anyone catch Vegan Action’s Executive Director, Krissi, and VegFest vendor coordinator, Mike, on TV yesterday? 📺 They popped on to chat about everything lined up for VegFest, including that there will be over 120 vendors at Byrd Park!

James River Association's EcoFest this past Saturday (9/12) was a total success! 🌎

Kids had a blast learning how to create a colorful, well-balanced meal with our hands-on “Create Your Favorite Healthy Plate” activity.

Others tested their knowledge on the environmental impacts of animal agriculture—matching major environmental drivers to their impacts and guessing how many gallons of water it takes to produce things like a 1lb of lentils, thousands of ChatGPT responses, milk, and more.

We have to give a special shoutout to the 8th grader who successfully got all the answers right with zero help on their first try! 👏🏆

We are so grateful to everyone who stopped by our booth and spent time with us!

What an incredible summer! ☀️ We just wrapped up our final cooking demonstration with our lovely Girls For A Change campers.

This week’s focus was all about plant-based living! We talked about the ethical reasons behind eating fewer animals, learned some fun facts about how smart and clean pigs are, and did a taste-test of vegan proteins like tempeh, veggie dogs, and marinated tofu. (Safe to say, a few minds and tastebuds were changed!)

To top it all off, the campers had a blast chopping, cutting, and rolling their own tofu and veggie fresh spring rolls. 🌯👩‍🍳

It was the absolute perfect way to finish a successful round of summer cooking demos!

We are so proud to share that our Executive Director, Krissi Vandenberg, is returning to her alma mater this week. She’ll be taking the stage at VCU for a special panel discussion: "Voices of Change: Stories from Alumni."

Krissi will be diving into her history as a student activist at VCU and how those early days of organizing paved the way for the work she leads today. If you’re in the Richmond area, you should plan to go!
