I want to bring your attention to Pathways to Science, a free summer residential experience for high school Latinas in Virginia. The purpose of this program funded by the National Science Foundation is to engage with Latinas who are interested in STEM early in their high school career with the goal of encouraging them to pursue a college education and career in STEM. Our ultimate goal is to increase the number of Latina STEM professionals in VA.
Young women who are chosen for Pathways to Science receive the following benefits:
• A free, weeklong summer residential camp at Randolph-Macon College, where they engage with other Latinas with a passion for STEM, live in our dorms and learn about life on a college campus.
• A $2,500 scholarship to the college of their choice upon completion of the summer program.
• Field trips to our partner organizations the Science Museum of Virginia, Maymont, and Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden as well as businesses in the community to see STEM in action and meet women leaders in STEM careers
• Many additional benefits!
The application is open and can be accessed on our website. Please feel free to share this e-mail or direct any students who you think might be interested to apply or to visit our website, https://pathwaystoscience.com/, to complete an application. We would love to have them apply!
