The pipe organ at the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart is only a few years old. After the original organ from 1906 entered a state of extreme disrepair, installation began on a new organ in 2023. The organ installation was completed by September 2024 with its inaugural concert that October. The video shares a brief demonstration of the organ that was performed for the Council members at the conclusion of our tour of the Cathedral. If you like what you hear, the schedule of organ recitals at the Cathedral can be found on their website.

For our March Business meeting, the Council convened at the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart on Richmond’s Monroe Park. The Cathedral, completed in 1907, is the seat of the bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Richmond. After the meeting, members received a tour of the Cathedral and learned about the organ before hearing it demonstrated.

Annual Council bus trip. This year we visited Thomas Jefferson’s retirement retreat, Poplar Forest, near Lynchburg, Virginia. Thanks to our great tour guides we learned about Thomas Jefferson’s time at the home and his time spent with his visiting granddaughters. They also discuss the lives of the enslaved who served and worked the to***co fields for Jefferson. ~
