A message from Khashayar Azimi regarding a great cause:
We hope that this social mail finds you well. This August Brooke and I are heading to the city of Chichicastenango, Guatemala to provide a weeks' worth of free dental care. We are joining a group of 15 other dental students and 2 faculty dentists, all from Detroit Mercy's ASDA chapter, and we’re seeking out your help in helping us provide dental care to the community of Chichicastenango, Guatemala. This will be Brooke's 1st time to the city and my second. We are really looking forward to collaborating for something greater than ourselves together and spread some smiles!
Last year, the group traveled abroad to provide dental care to those who don't have access to some of the basic amenities we often take for granted. Many came in with excruciating pain that was hindering their ability to eat and sleep. We expect to see over 300 children and adults over the course of the week.
Our team will be providing oral healthcare education, cleanings, fluoride treatments and extractions. We will also be teaching proper oral hygiene so they can use that newly acquired information to teach others in their community, thus empowering themselves and each other. We are required to completely fund this trip and provide the supplies necessary for the treatments that will be rendered. Toothbrushes, toothpaste and floss will also be provided to each patient. The costs of all these quickly add up.
This is where you can help us achieve our goal by helping us offset the cost and ultimately, help us run a successful week-long clinic. No matter how small or large, each and every donation will get us closer to our goal and would be greatly appreciated.
