Alternatives to Violence Project (AVP Indiana)

Alternatives to Violence Project (AVP Indiana) Experiential Learning: How does Violence affect our individual/community lives? However, participants are always welcome to join only the Basic training.

AVP workshops use the shared experience of participants, interactive exercises, games and role-plays to examine the ways in which we respond to situations where injustice, prejudice, frustration and anger can lead to aggressive behavior and violence. The training is highly experiential with participants choosing many of the ways in which the exercises and skill-learning occur. To become an AVP fac

ilitator, there are three workshops to attend: a Basic, Level II, and Training for Trainers. The primary purpose of AVP groups is to offer individuals tools for personal empowerment, enabling them to live their lives with dignity and self-respect. AVP facilitators serve the community by leading workshops with the goal of enhancing individuals’ skills for peaceful reduction of conflict. We are currently working to re-establish an AVP organization in Indiana. If you have had previous facilitator training in the Alternatives to Violence Project program and live in Indiana, we would love to hear from you!
