Friday at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo it was Mia’s turn in the ring for the British Heifer Scramble Show!

Last year Mia participated in the calf scramble where she caught a calf and received a certificate to purchase a heifer. She used that certificate to purchase her Shorthorn heifer, Cali May. As part of the scramble program, exhibitors return the following year to show the heifer they purchased and raised through the program.

Cali May placed 6th in her class! Mia did a great job and we are very proud of the hard work and dedication she has put into her project. We can’t wait to see what else these two achieve on this journey together.

Wish her luck tomorrow as she competes in the Junior Breeding Heifer Show! 🐄🎉

Another great day at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo and it was Aubrey’s turn in the ring with her market lamb!

Competing at HLSR is like competing at the Super Bowl of livestock shows. The best of the best from across the state come here to show, making the competition incredibly tough.

Out of 84 lambs in her class, Aubrey placed 12th! What an amazing accomplishment and an incredible way to finish her lamb career during her senior year.

We are beyond proud of the hard work, dedication, and perseverance she has shown throughout the season. Congratulations Aubrey — the sky is the limit and we can’t wait to see all the great things ahead for you!

🐮✨ The heifers have officially entered the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo!

Our first exhibitor to hit the ring was Lilly with her Santa Gertrudis heifer, Paisley. Lilly showed on Tuesday in the American Breeding Heifer Scramble Show. Paisley placed 5th in her class. This special show represents the full journey of the calf scramble program — Lilly caught a calf last year, used her certificate to purchase Paisley, spent the year raising and caring for her, and brought her back to Houston to showcase all of the hard work she has put in.

This program truly highlights the dedication, responsibility, and commitment these students put into their projects, and Lilly is a great example of that.

Way to go Lilly! We are so proud of you and all the hard work you’ve put into Paisley! 👏🐂
