That’s Right! Fall is not only much nicer for us humans to be out in our gardens (cooler and less humid weather, less mosquitos), but it’s the best time for planting as well!

The soil stays warm well into fall, which allows roots to grow, while the cooler air keeps plants from getting stressed. With less need to push out new flowers or leaves, plants put their energy into underground growth. By the summer they’re already established and ready to thrive in our heat and humidity.

So come get some local ecotype plants from LERN this fall and get them planted in your gardens so that they’ll be ready for next year!

Thanks to everyone who came out to our End-of-Summer Plant Sale yesterday!! Here are some scenes from the sale!

The video shows one of the farm’s younger residents, Winky, who came to visit the nursery!! He lost an eye early on in his life and the other chickens are now not being super nice to him. But he’s so sweet and let me hold him for a long time before I carried him back to the farm. Wish I could take him home with me!

We had country style donuts for the first customers ( and of course for us!) plus bubble wands are never a bad idea!

Bobbie, one of the farm dogs also came “A calling”, but waited till the end of the sale to say hi .

Lastly, a few shots showing our plants that we had for sale, arranged by their preferred growing conditions.
