Message from the President:
As you know, this has been a devastating time for Eastern Kentucky. Many of our families, friends, staff and students have experienced unimaginable tragedies. The entire Alice Lloyd College community is lifting our fellow Kentuckians up in our prayers. We are working towards serving our community with water distribution, as well as food.
On campus, thankfully everyone is safe, and our dorms and buildings are in good shape. We do have significant damage to the creek banks and road. We are working to repair those as we speak. Just as ALC has been a light unto the mountains for nearly 100 years, we will continue to fulfill that mission in these times. Our community needs us and although there is work to do, we plan to begin classes in-person and on time. Crews are working diligently to clean up campus and restore infrastructure so that we may return to classes as scheduled. Currently, we do have power, water, and internet services.
We are grateful for the outpouring of love and support that has been shown to us in the last several days. Our friends across the region, and the country, have been so gracious. If you would like to give toward flood relief efforts, you can do so at www.alc.edu/online-donations and choose “flood relief” in the drop-down. If you have items that you would like to donate, you can bring them to the fellowship hall of Caney Baptist Church. The most needed items at the moment are water, non-perishable food items, toiletries, diapers, and clean-up supplies.
We will keep you updated as we move forward together. May God bless you, your families and all those affected.
