This Saturday, October 3rd, we will have some special activities for kids in the Fort. There will be a scavenger hunt, butter churning, fire starting, wool carding and other activities geared toward our younger guests. Some of these will be hands on for them to try. This is free with regular fort admission of $8.00 for adults, $5 for children 6-12 and free for children 5 and under. The fort is open from 9-4:45pm with the last ticket sold at 4:00pm.

It’s NOT TOO LATE to make plans to camp and participate in the reenactment of the Great Siege of 1778 at Fort Boonesborough State Park this weekend, Sept. 18-20. Battle takes place Saturday and Sunday at 2:00 pm as we reenact scenarios that occurred during the 11 day siege. Wood, water, ice & restrooms are provided along with a simple meal for Reenactors on Saturday evening. Period camping in and around the fort with setup on Friday. If you need early set up, please contact in advance. Pre-registration is encouraged but not required. Reenactor guidelines are available on our website along with a link to our registration form. If you have not previously attended a reenactment at Boonesborough, please email a photo of yourself in kit, preferably with your camp. This is an 1778 frontier event so please remember time and place in regards to clothing and accoutrements. Special Kid's Themed activities with Fort Interpreters. Let your children experience what life on the frontier would have been like in 1775. Regular fort hours and regular fort admission.

This is the week! Plans are made, gear getting packed, miles will be driven by many to attend and participate in the Siege at Boonesborough Sept.19 and 20th, come early and enjoy the fort, eat lunch and Siege takes place at 2 p.m. each day. Only parking is on Hwy 388, FREE shuttles from the lower parking to the fort. See you there!!!

September is here so mark your calendar for the 19th and 20th and make plans to visit Fort Boonesborough State Park and the re-enactment of the 1778 Siege. All parking is in the KY388 lot across from the entrance to the picnic area with free shuttles provided to the Fort. Admission: Adults $8.00, Seniors and Children 6-12 $5.00, 5 and under are free. Gates open at 9:00am. Come early and enjoy the cabins, visit the interpreters, see the video, visit the camps and traders, have lunch, and enjoy the battle each day at 2:00pm.

Thank you to all who attended Gathering of Descendants on June 20,2026. The weather was perfect and visitors from 11 states registered for the day interested in gathering family information. . We thank all the family groups and organizations who were there to help our visitors find information about their families. Thank you Nancy O’Malley and Randell Jones for their presentations, all the volunteers helping make the day possible and the park staff for help getting everything set up. Mark your calendars for June 19,2027 and we’ll do it all again.

The Gathering of Descendants scheduled for Saturday, June 20,2026 has a full day planned, see if you can find more information about a relatives, hear Randell Jones tell the story of the capture of the girls , enjoy lunch at the concession tent, visit the cabins and experience life at Fort Boonesborough. At 2 p.m. take the shuttle down to the original fort site on the Kentucky River and hear Nancy O’Malley tell the story of discoveries during the archeological “dig”. Admission Adults $8, Children 7-12 $5, Children 5 and under free. Open 9-4:30 Free shuttles to the fort from the parking lot on Hwy388.
