The Virginia Chi Chapter of Sigma Alpha Epsilon was founded at VCU on March 24, 2007. There are currently about 50 active brothers. We are recognized leaders throughout the VCU and Richmond community, earning accolades and awards for our volunteer work, philanthropy and outstanding contributions to the Greek community. We volunteer and raise money for Children’s Miracle Network, The Carver Promise
, and many other charitable and service-oriented organizations.
ΣAE participates in intramural sports leagues. We maintain busy social lives, always understanding the importance of working hard and playing hard. Lastly and most importantly, Sigma Alpha Epsilon has and enforces a strict ZERO HAZING policy. Chapter Achievements
ΣAE has been Fraternity of the Year two of the last three years and Chapter of the Year in our Province the past three years. We have been Greek Week Champions for four straight years. ΣAE participates annually in Alternative Spring Break, performing a week of service in March. We have our own street for a street clean up, Shafer Street. We do community service for Carver Elementary and the Chesapeake Bay Service. ΣAE conducts a Patton Week of Service dedicated to one of our Founders buried in Hollywood Cemetery. We feed the homeless weekly. Philanthropy

ΣAE has the most initiated members Nationally. Members network among 1,800 alumni in the area. Our province will begin a program for upcoming seniors in our chapters to have an assigned alumni that will work as a mentor with one of the seniors to help them with profession orientation and job opportunities. Once you’re an ΣAE you will forever be an ΣAE. Brotherhood
Although we are a diverse group of Brothers we stick together with common bonds and beliefs. We follow our ritual and our creed to guide us when in doubt and to become better men. We are there for each other in times of hardship, to guide one another, and to each other make better decisions. Social
We are a social fraternity. We have fun, but we do so with intelligence and as a brotherhood, always upholding academic integrity and maintaining above average grade point average. We work hard and play hard. You do not join Sigma Alpha Epsilon for four years, but rather, for a lifetime.
