Thanks to our fabulous leader Nichole Savage for taking us older scouts out tonight. It was a really great and empowering experience, so let us use this outing as our muse for our BHM art! ❤️🍪✊🏾

Let’s skip ahead to Tuesday!

Marsha P. Johnson, a black gay libertarian activist and self-identified drag queen. She was a popular figure in NYC’s lgbt and art scene in the 1980s and early 90s. TUESDAY :assigned for a woman I admire and who has made a great impact on the world, but as we know she was not born a woman, yet she still was at heart. Facing countless acts of violence and hate for who she was she still kept pushing for equality in sexuality. Marsha lost her life to what was claimed as “suicide”, but a case was never conducted because she was “A man dressed as a woman.” Yet she was still human who deserved justice and her family deserves peace.
The image she left in the world and in the lgbt community is why I admire her.

Good morning!!! My name is Alyasia Shaw, one of the several leaders In our troop. I’m currently a Freshman at Maggie L. Walker government school for International Studies and a Senior in girl scouts. I wouldn’t have been apart of this troop without the invitation from Iidajah James. I stuck around because of how devoted Ms. Nichole was and the messages she wanted to get across our young minds. Her influence drives me to change the viewpoints of the world for the better on social injustice and gender equality etc.
