Rubi & Tonka’s family shared these photos of their life with us.
They were the first dogs GUARD ever *officially* brought in under our budding rescue. They’ve recently passed, and the family wanted to share some memories.
We are so incredibly grateful they lived full and loving lives...so many of our bigs have been lost too young.

We have noticed several new views lately, so we are posting this for any who may not know: GUARD is technically closed. We are leaving our page up for people to still be able to access photos of their dogs in our albums, for prior adopters to be able to contact us if necessary, and to share dogs or fundraisers in our sister rescues with you.

Wise words from some of our favorite fellow rescuers!

As we all know more puppies are purchased around the holiday season than any other time of the year. Please consider contacting rescues/shelters in lieu of purchasing a pet. Reputable rescues/shelters have volunteers and fosters that work closely with orphan animals to gauge their temperament, training levels, and quirks. You can work with a knowledgeable team to find the right fit. In the event you choose to purchase, be sure to get references from numerous people, visit the location the animal is coming from, meet the parents, and get vetting information. Training your new addition is very important as well. This is especially true for puppies!

I am not available for adoption yet. If you are interested in adopting me... You will need a home visit to verify you have a privacy fence. You will need to visit me at the shelter multiple times to make me feel comfortable with you and then I will need to visit you several times to make sure I am comfortable in your home. I need a patient adopter who will help me build my confidence. I am working with a trainer to help me at the shelter. I love treats and I learn very quickly!
