We have been serving girls ages 5-18 in West Contra Costa County for the past 47 years. We provide a safe space for girls to be themselves and realize their greatest potential while providing them with academic, social, and recreational programs and more. BAGC has deep roots in West Contra Costa County and beyond. When Richmond resident Stevanna Herron donated $1,000 out of her own pocket in 1975
to create a safe, supportive environment for the girls in Richmond, she had no idea of the impact our organization would have on girls, families, and the entire Richmond community. Truly a grassroots effort and passion project, for over a year, Herron, a longtime community activist, along with a cadre of local women in the community, sold spaghetti dinners to make the down payment for the facility where girls could realize their dreams. Today we are a thriving organization that houses classrooms, a bookstore, and more! There are a lot of changes on the horizon…please keep an eye on us as we grow our programs, and our girls transform the world!
