We made up this fun solar walking tour of Whitesburg, Kentucky featuring this amazing shot of four installations in Whitesburg, taken by our friends at H.O.M.E.S. Inc.

We think everyone should know about how business and community leaders in Letcher County have looked to solar for savings!

Honored to support all these great projects. And we'll be at Appalshop's Seedtime on the Cumberland fest tomorrow to share this handout and all about our services!

We’re here to help!

Working with Mountain Association, HOMES borrowed money to install roof top solar in 2019. To date, this system has saved HOMES $45,000 in electric bill cost!... that’s money we didn’t have to pay to the power company!

WE all know that the rapidly rising costs of electric is making it harder for small businesses to survive. The Mountain Association has been helping local businesses, nonprofit organizations, and government owned properties drastically reduce utility bills. Mountain Association identifies opportunities to save energy and dollars. Then, they walk through each step to make that happen. As energy rates continue to skyrocket, investing in efficient solutions today can help create long-term stability in the years ahead.

If you own a business or know of a local organization that could benefit from reducing their electric bill, contact Mountain Association to learn more at https://mtassociation.org/energy/

What do pizza rolls & public health have in common?! 🍕Double Kwik!

For 60 years, Double Kwik has been known for gas, convenient essentials, and its famous pizza rolls, but its impact runs far deeper.

What started as a small fuel operation has grown into a company supporting 40 communities and 850 employees across Eastern Kentucky.

A few years ago, they made a bold move to consolidate their headquarters to Whitesburg, purchasing a building from the county that had become a taxpayer burden.

Read on about how they turned it into a solar-powered hub for community care & what else makes double kwik an unlikely hero in the Eastern Kentucky story!

Senator Robin Webb has asked the company for a public meeting and we encourage residents interested in learning more to follow her page for further details.

Additionally, our partners at Kentucky Resources Council have an educational resource page on their website with a community guide coming soon to guide citizens as data centers are proposed in our communities.

“The timing was definitely a God thing,” said Shane Neace of Riverside Christian School - Lost Creek, KY.

After two historic floods severely damaged the school’s longtime campus, rather than closing its doors, Riverside relocated to a former public elementary school that had recently consolidated.

“In the previous building, we used gas, and it was much cheaper,” Neace said. “When I got our first bill and saw a demand charge of over $3,000, that caught my attention. I started digging, making phone calls, and that’s how we found your team. They came in and really helped us understand how to control those charges and lower our bills.”
