Crunchy Mommas (and Dadas)

Crunchy Mommas (and Dadas) A warm, crumbly, freshly baked assortment of multicultural and multigrain parents Welcome to my crunchy corner of FB! So join us!

I am a mother of 2 beautiful girls who are ten years apart in age. To say I've learned a lot since my first born is an understatement, not to mention the amazing changes that have happened in natural, healthier choices in parenting and child rearing. From my experience, most parents have a desire to be great parents and raise their children to the best of their ability. I started this fan page, an

d my soon-to-be launched website, to create a space to mix and mingle all the varied ingredients that go into growing naturally, healthy kids. My hope is to create a community where we can connect with each other to share information, support and encouragement. As parents, we all have our struggles and our strengths. Parenthood is a smorgasbord of experiences and we can feel as if we are at a feast or in a famine! It is comforting to know we are not alone and that there are others who may be facing similar situations or who have already overcome them. Spread the love, pass your plate, and load up on some positive, crunchy vibes that will improve your health, your relationships, and maybe even transform your life! :)

My website will be launching soon so I also hope to get some feedback from my fans here on FB! I'd like to know what topics you are interested in and what questions you might have when it comes to natural practices. What crushes your cookies or flattens your soufflé? What spoonfuls of savvy can you offer other moms and dads? Got any great tidbits of advice that worked for you? Or morsels dropped in your lap by a wise, seasoned grandmother? Please feel free to email me or shoot me a message because I'd love to know! I am thrilled that you are here and you are welcome to sample the various tastes of granola goodness that our modern world is beginning to blend with timeless, worldwide, tried and true techniques, knowledge and traditions. Across all cultures, trends, time and space, one truth holds true, children thrive when loved. So regardless of your age, experience, gender, or level of 'Crunch', you always have one fail-proof recipe for connecting with your lil baby cakes...

2 Arms, gently rounded
2-3 Snuggles (more if desired)
1-3 Pecks on the Cheek (Season to your taste)
1 Big Squeeze

We are human so by definition, there will be times when we overcook, under bake, mismeasure, or forget a spice all together. Nonetheless, I believe there is hope as long as we smother our children with overflowing, never ending, loving spoonfuls of the unmistakable flavor of love.

The last thing a woman wants to hear while going into labor is that an emergency Caesarean section needs to be performed. "We all must remember that it's only in recent years that births have moved from the home to the hospital. Perhaps out-of-hospital births seem like a trend, but in reality, hospital birth[s] are the more recent cultural phenomenon. The term of out-of-hospital birth is used as if these women are choosing something "outside of what's normal" but when we consider history, they are simply returning to what has always been done."

Out-of-hospital births are still not common. According to NPR, 99 percent of American women decide not to have their baby at home or in a free-standing birth center. But slowly, more and more women...
