Congratulations to the nine graduates of our summer Heela Level 1 Sewing Course. 100% of students passed the skills test and made some incredible projects. Thank you to our hosts, Good Shepherd United Methodist Church, and to Reveille United Methodist Church for supporting the graduation.

Today is the anniversary of the United Nations General Assembly’s adoption of the Declaration and Program of Action on a Culture of Peace.

Celebrated as the International Day of Peace, it is a day that recognizes that peace, “not only is the absence of conflict, but also requires a positive, dynamic participatory process where dialogue is encouraged and conflicts are solved in a spirit of mutual understanding and cooperation.” We celebrate this day and remain committed to bridging our community together to work across divides.

What does belonging look like in a community?
This spring, we launched a community quilt project, asking volunteers, clients, and community members what “Community and Belonging” looked like to them. Check out what it looks like! Feeling a sense of belonging is core to feeling welcome in our community. We are excited to exhibit our quilt in the community starting this fall and to give you a preview as a part of this year’s Welcoming Week.
