Dhe Zhi Phuntsog Ling Dhe Zhi Phuntsog Ling is a community center to ensure the preservation and promotion of Tibetan cultu

When the building was first purchased in 2010, the center was given an auspicious Tibetan name by His Holiness The Dalai Lama -- Dhe Zhi Phuntsog Ling which translates to English as The Island of Four Perfections -- Dharma, Wealth, Liberation and Satisfaction, representing a place of refuge and hope for the Tibetan community. The entire renovation project has been envisioned in an architectural ma

ster plan which can be divided into multiple construction phases. Over the past few years, two small phases of construction have been accomplished to make the existing building more safe and suitable for TANC. Now, we have entered into the third and very critical phase of work which includes enlarging the Community Assembly Hall in preparation for His Holiness's first visit and blessing ceremony for the center in February 2014. Future phases will include expanded Classrooms, a Library, four updated ADA Restrooms, an Elevator Tower and a Mandala Peace Plaza with a central Chorten and traditional medicinal planting gardens.

The Tibetan Association of Northern California (TANC), was founded on July 6, 1990. TANC’s original founders consisted of 11 Tibetans and one non-Tibetan spouse. TANC was officially registered as a non-profit organization in 1994. The founders of TANC shared a common vision of establishing a single community-based organization to meet the needs and aspirations of all Northern Californian Tibetans. In keeping with this common vision, TANC founders chose as the organization’s motto: “Unity of purpose; Strength in diversity” and selected as its logo, the legendary “Four Harmonious Friends” from traditional Tibetan mythical folk tales.
