Yea we do that too. Short video from a small kitchen fire last month (7/20) in a residence off Hilltop Dr. The members from E68 made quick work of the flames and minutes later were able to successfully located and rescue the homeowners cat that was overcome by smoke upstairs. The feline was given a little bit of oxygen and before being given right back to his family. Just another day of serving this amazing community for your Richmond firefighters. I-80 has been keeping the members of E64 and T64 busy. Yesterday evening the 64 crews were first sent to the area of 80 near the 580 merge for a 2 vehicle accident. One victim was trapped in the vehicle and required extrication. The patient was transported to a local trauma center with severe injuries. Then earlier this morning around 4am, the same companies responded to the area of 80 near the Carlson exits for another 2 vehicle accident. Both vehicles had major damage with one vehicle on fire. Luckily there were only minor injuries. You can rest assured that Richmond firefighters will be there in your time of need. Richmond Firefighters Local 188

Straight from the horses mouth. Here is a first hand look at one of the 3 Richmond fire stations, Station 66, that needs to be completely rebuilt to meet modern safety, health and emergency response standards. Along with Station 67 on Cutting Blvd. both stations were initially meant to only be “temporary” when they were first constructed over 80 years ago. While Station 63 on Valley View Rd. needs substantial foundation work to quite literally keep the station from splitting in half. At nearly 85 years old, Richmond Fire Station 66 located at 4100 Clinton Ave. is not only the oldest operating firehouse in our city, but the oldest city owned building still in use for its original intended capacity. Opening Dec. 1, 1942 it has seen minimal modifications, updates or upgrades to modern safety, ADA or OSHA compliance standards. The first picture was taken a few months after the station first opened. The second is from 1974, nearly 30 years later. The next picture is more recent showing a modern fire engine still stationed at the fire house. And lastly, a picture taken this week of the “temporary” portable bathrooms installed in the rear of the station over 10 years ago to accommodate crew privacy and gender accommodating bathroom requirements. Richmond Firefighters are proud of our rich history in our city, but we also look forward to long overdue improvements that will ensure we can continue to delivery the same high quality fire, rescues and emergency response our community deserves. Some video of our members working hard to save a home from a fire that occurred Friday afternoon on the 2800 block of Shane Dr. in the Rollingwood district of Station 68. Brisk winds fanned the flames which caused significant damage to one residence and destroyed multiple backyards. No injuries were reported. Richmond Firefighters are here when you need us. The only thing quicker than the amount of time it took for Richmond firefighters to extinguish yesterday’s structure fire, is how fast you will lose your nozzle if you aren’t ready to go to work. Our members were sent to the area of Carlson Blvd. and Ohio Ave. for a structure fire. E64 arrived first at scene to find the building already well involved in fire. The flames were brought under control within 10 minutes without issue. Richmond firefighters are proud to serve this great city and keep you safe.

Some images from another busy Tuesday afternoon for Richmond firefighters. Our members assisted Contra Costa County Fire and the City of San Pablo with a structure fire in the area of San Pablo Ave. and Shirley Dr. E66 was the first to arrive at scene, making quick work of the flames.

The members of E67 making quick work of a recent fire in an ADU on the 300 block of S. 20th street. The call came in just after 1am on Monday morning. No injuries were reported. You can rest assured that Richmond firefighters will be keeping you safe 24/7/365.
