The purpose of YHELI Program is to help students gain leadership skills, and an awareness of health equity so that they may become familiar with current issues, community resources, opportunities, and other factors that have the potential to positive influence their futures. Participation in the program will help buffer youth from exposure to a variety of alarming risk behaviors and will also prep

The YHELI will require youth involvement in a curriculum that will complement after school programs academic as well as in the Mosby and East District community. The curriculum for youth includes modules on topics such as the social determinants of health, health equity, physical and mental health, racism, infant mortality, obesity, self-esteem, self-efficacy, leadership development, conflict resolution, advocacy, empowerment, community organizing, community assessment, cultural enrichment, and critical thinking.
