Wild and zany story from one of our shelter fosters! Check out this blended, multi-generational kitty family! Huuuuge shout-out to our animal control partners for saving so many lives!

--

"Everything started out pretty typically... a mama cat with six 3-week old babies was surrendered to animal control (cat count = 7). Shortly thereafter, an orphaned 2-week old orange tabby was brought in. To give him the best chance at survival, animal control asked the mama cat if she would take him in and she happily agreed to raise him as her own (cat count = 8 ). Hereโ€™s where it gets weird... the mama was surrendered along with a teenager (possibly her daughter from her previous litter). Before RAL could arrive to pick up the family, the teenager had started co-parenting the kittens... and... was... nursing... them!! It turns out the teenager is pregnant and lactating ๐Ÿ˜ฑ. So of course this family needs to stay together (cat count = 9 plus god knows how many buns in the oven). This will be a new fostering adventure and the first time we will get to experience the miracle of kitten birth. The mamas are so sweet and attentive to their babies, and so far all is good, but wish us luck๐Ÿคž.

P.S. This is a great example of how cat populations can grow exponentially. Please spay and neuter all of the cats!!!"

Do you believe in Magic?

What about the irresistible draw of enormous, squishy boy-cat cheeks?

If you've ever been around Loving Spay + Neuter Clinic, you've probably seen our resident former-feral hanging out by a window, watching people come and go. Magic has been a much-loved member of our family since December 2019, and we would not trade him for the world -- not that people haven't made offers!

Magic is not available for adoption. ...but we recently came across a kitty who is, who happens to be Magic's identical twin!

Oscar was found in a feral colony, unneutered and majestic, just doing his own kitty-cat thing. At first sight, the love was not there-- he had words to say to the folks who interrupted his cat shenanigans. But after a few hours? Well, well, well... what do we have here but another 'feral' cat that isn't so very feral at all. Oscar, much like our beloved Magic, is a ten-pound masterpiece of purrs and love.

So, now's your chance! If you've ever wanted a little Magic of your very own (believe it!), reach out to Rivka at 804.564.4939 !
