Consistent relationships, practical guidance, and a trusted community give people a toehold into the stability they need to stay connected to their goals and keep moving forward.

If you or someone you know is experiencing homelessness, SOS Richmond's Warm Hand Wellness Center is a place of connection and respite.

A shower may seem small until you are living without one.

When someone is surviving outdoors, the loss of basic routines deepens isolation, stress, and hopelessness. Something as simple as a hot shower can become the first step back toward improved mental health.

At SOS Richmond, showers are not just hygiene services. They are moments of care, trust, and human connection that help people begin moving out of survival mode.

This Mental Health Awareness Month, help provide unhoused neighbors with access to showers, peer support, and compassionate community care.

Isolation affects mental health in powerful ways.

These simple reminders are not just for people experiencing homelessness. They are good for anyone going through isolation, grief, depression, burnout, instability, or hard seasons of life.

Healing often begins with small moments of connection, care, and community.

This is Mental Health Awareness month. You don't have to do everything - small, slow, and steady is best.

It's not just a shower.

You see, when you are homeless, isolation becomes extreme. When you are in the encampment, you are constantly under threat. And when you are on the street, you have threats plus peering eyes, which makes you feel terrible. Isolation grows and deepens.

When we talk about mental health, a shower is not necessarily what you might think of first. Dr. Gabor Mate describes trauma as not just what happens to us but what happens to us on the inside when we are isolated. Being on the street...you get dirty. You can't help it. And this just drives you deeper into isolation and poor mental health.

A shower can disrupt this cycle. It's real. We've lived it.

This is Mental Health Awareness Month, and we are raising money to offer more showers. You can create an opening for someone - this donation will have a real-life impact on a suffering soul.

Your gift can provide:
$100 - 6 showers
$50 - 3 showers
$30 - soap and shampoo for 2 weeks

And help us pay off the remaining $22,500 on our new shower trailer.

FILM SCREENING! Free! Snacks and beverages!

Come to a screening of “The Right to Exist” on May 23. There will also be a panel discussion with community voices.

This film offers a close look at a self-governed encampment and the realities of people navigating homelessness. It’s an opportunity to engage more deeply with the work we are doing here in Richmond and the ideas shaping it. Check out the trailer:

When you are living on the street, isolation is extreme. Isolation is a major driver and contributor to poor mental health. It may come as a surprise, but the number one thing that brings people out of isolation is a shower.

That's why we are raising money, which can expand our shower services for folks experiencing homelessness this month.

We know it's real because we lived it. Join us today in creating a real pathway out of isolation and into better mental health.

Your gift can provide:
$100 - 6 showers
$50 - 3 showers
$30 - soap and shampoo for 2 weeks

And help us pay off the remaining $22,500 on our new shower trailer.
