To steward a move of the Spirit in a region, resist spiritual warfare, and build something that endures, there must be a foundation of living stones — a people joined and fitted together in Christ. When this happens, the weight of what God is building is distributed across the whole body rather than carried by one or two individuals.
A properly laid foundation prevents cracks from forming that would allow the enemy to infiltrate and collapse the heavenly structure God is raising in the land. It anchors the work against the trials, tribulations, and spiritual warfare that inevitably come. It also provides a unified base upon which the Kingdom can be established on earth as it is in heaven.
This foundation is made of living people — joined together in Christ and united to carry the weight of what is being built: His manifested glory, His redemptive work, and the release of His nature and character in a region. As this heavenly structure of the ekklesia emerges, transformation begins to take place. Strongholds of principalities are torn down. Healing and deliverance are released. The gospel spreads, disciples are made, churches multiply, and signs and wonders testify to the living Christ.
Yet before stones can be placed in a foundation, they must be cut and shaped. Christ Himself does this work in us. He brings inner healing and deliverance, removing what would keep us from true unity. Where unprocessed pain, soul wounds, or demonic influence remain unaddressed, the unity of the Spirit cannot fully form. Personal healing and deliverance are therefore essential so the body can be rightly joined together. We must all look to the Cornerstone for alignment. He is the plumb line.
But this preparation is not merely individual. The building of the house requires the equipping of the whole body. The fivefold ministry is given to train and mature the saints so that the church grows up into Christ and is fitted together in love. Participation is not optional. Every part must do its work.
For a region to be transformed and for the ekklesia to function effectively, a whole company must be equipped and engaged — living stones held together by what every joint supplies. Worship, prayer, and intercession become primary functions of the body. Through this devotion to Jesus, an open heaven forms over a region. Wherever Jesus is loved and adored, heaven and earth begin to meet.
Scripture tells us that the church is built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, with Christ Jesus Himself as the Cornerstone. Apostles and prophets function as master builders, bringing divine blueprints and heavenly order to the work. Prophetic grace strengthens and builds up the people of God, while apostolic grace establishes and perseveres as the ekklesia is raised up in a region to release heaven on earth.
