KAPE is an Adapted Physical Education and Aquatics program for children with disabilities aged 4-21. Children in the program receive individualized physical activity programs that emphasize development of gross motor skills, physical fitness and basic aquatic skills. These individualized physical activity programs are developed for each child based on initial screening, on-going motor assessment a
nd consultation with parents. Instruction is provided by qualified student workers. Activities will include 2-week rotation of physical and motor fitness skills:
*Throwing
*Kicking
*Catching
*Volleyball
*Dance and Rhythms
Aquatics will include:
*Certified Lifeguard on duty.
*Flotation Devices such as Aqua-joggers & Swimming noodles.
*One on one supervision will be provided in the aquatics area. Interested in getting your child involved in KAPE? Parents/guardians must complete an application for each child prior to participation. Registation will be on a first come, first serve basis, and will be limited to 30 children per semester. Although we would like to be able to serve all children, the setting may not be appropriate for all children. KAPE is a volunteer program for EKU students and all are welcome to apply!
