With heavy hearts, we inform you of the passing of Edward Carroll Hale this morning. Carroll was a beloved fixture in scouting even before joining Troop 118 in 1987. He and his late wife, Marsha, were active leaders and contributors to the troop and the Bluegrass Council for over thirty years.
Age and health required Carroll to step down from day to day operations of the troop some years ago. But he has always been eager to help in whatever capacity he could. We continue to use equipment that bears his name and the mark of his craftsmanship.
So much of the success of Troop 118 is built on top of Carroll's example, influence, and generosity. During his tenure, thirty youth earned the rank of Eagle Scout, with seven more in the subsequent years, and an additional four expected to earn the rank this year. As well as many others, both youth and parents, who were cared for and enriched under his care.
Our hearts are with his family, as well as our gratitude for sharing with us such a treasure of a man.
