⚽️🎒 OPENING WEEKEND REMINDER: WHAT TO BRING ON GAME DAY! 🎒⚽️

Opening weekend is almost here! 🙌 As we get ready for the first games of the season, here’s a quick Game Day Checklist for our MUSA families!

Before you head to the field, make sure your player has:

☑️ Soccer cleats
☑️ Shin guards
☑️ Full uniform — jersey, shorts & socks
☑️ Soccer ball
☑️ Water bottle 💧
☑️ Weather-appropriate clothing ☀️🌧️
☑️ Any necessary medications
☑️ A positive attitude! ❤️⚽️

🚨 ONE VERY IMPORTANT REMINDER: JEWELRY

Please remove all jewelry BEFORE arriving at the field.

This includes:
💍 Rings
📿 Necklaces
🧿 Bracelets
👂 Earrings & piercings
⌚️ Watches
💎 Any other jewelry or accessories that could pose a safety concern

Referees are required to check players for jewelry before the match, and players cannot participate while wearing prohibited jewelry.

Please take it off at home so we’re not trying to remove earrings or other jewelry on the sideline right before kickoff!

💧 DON’T FORGET TO HYDRATE!

Don’t wait until the game starts to drink water. Encourage your player to hydrate throughout the day and bring plenty of water with them.

🌦️ CHECK THE WEATHER!

Kentucky weather can change quickly! Bring what your player may need for the conditions — sunscreen, extra layers, rain gear, etc.

And remember, always check MUSA communications for weather or field updates before leaving for the game.

🍎 AND AFTER THE GAME…

Don’t forget about our post-game snack reminder! Teams should have a simple snack and drink available after games to help players rehydrate and refuel.

Most importantly…

Bring your player. Bring your water. Bring your gear. REMOVE THE JEWELRY. Bring your best attitude. 😉

Let’s have an AMAZING opening weekend, MUSA! 💙⚽️

See you at the fields!

🚨 REFEREE ABUSE — RESPECT THE CALL 🟢

As we approach the first games of the season, here’s another important reminder for ALL MUSA families, coaches, players, and spectators.

🟢 SEE THE GREEN BADGE? THAT REFEREE IS A MINOR.

U.S. Soccer’s Green Referee Badge identifies officials under 18 years old. These young referees are learning, gaining experience, and helping grow our game. They deserve the same respect we expect for our players and coaches.

Frustration is not an excuse for disrespect. Referee abuse—verbal or physical—will not be tolerated.

U.S. Soccer’s Referee Abuse Prevention Policy addresses both physical and non-physical abuse and establishes sanctions for misconduct toward referees. Read the Referee Abuse Prevention Policy

Parents & spectators: Cheer for your team, not against the referee.

Coaches: Set the example.

Players: Respect the call, even when you disagree.

And when you see that 🟢 GREEN BADGE, remember: there is a young person out there learning the game.

Let’s protect our referees, support our young officials, and make MUSA a place where everyone can enjoy the game.

🚨⚽️ FIRST GAMES ARE ALMOST HERE! ⚽️🚨

As we get ready to kick off the first games of the season this weekend, we’re going to drop a few quick reminders to help everyone have a great game-day experience! 🙌

📣 First up: Spectator & Field Etiquette!

Please take a few minutes to look over the field map and remember:

⚽️ Sit at least 5 feet off the field line — 10 feet is preferred.
⚽️ Do NOT sit or stand on the goal side.
⚽️ Please respect our players, coaches, referees, and other families.

We want our players to have a positive, safe, and fun environment to play, learn, and compete! 💙💛

Thank you for helping us make MUSA game days a great experience for everyone!

Let’s get this season started! 🦅⚽️
