Today, AM Davis received a donation of over 200 pads and 40 pad kits from ’s sisters; a non profit organization that supplies menstrual necessities to communities in need. These products are free to our students AND families. Thank you 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾

We ❤️ resource fairs! It’s through these events that we can interact directly with the people we serve, and we cherish the opportunity. Last Friday, thanks to Belmont Community Resource Services Food Pantry & Clothing we served 400 families in 1.5 hours (pic 1)!

Many days of the year, you will find Sylvia’s Sisters volunteers working hard and having fun around Greater Richmond as they pass out pads and other resources to communities in need. Want to help? Check out sylviassisters.org/volunteer.

We are looking for a few good people to help plan Sylvia’s Sisters annual trivia night fundraiser. We hope to limit this to monthly virtual meetings, potentially more in the weeks closer to the event.

Every dollar raised helps fund period products and programs that keep girls in school and women earning a living.

School reps came, they saw, they loaded up.

Wednesday’s first-ever Back to School Fair was a huge success. School nurses and Communities In Schools reps from Richmond, Chesterfield and Henrico left with period products, reusable leggings and underwear to keep students in class even when they don’t have period products, or leak through their clothes.

Huge thanks to Rotary District 7600 and the Rotary Clubs of Bon Air, Chester, James River, Midlothian and West Richmond for making it happen. Turns out the best school supply is the one nobody wants to ask for.

We’ve heard it from partners in every school we serve: girls are missing school because they don’t have access to period products. But for years, we’ve had to rely on national data to tell that story locally.

This year, we decided to change that. We went directly to the source (students in Richmond and Chesterfield schools) and asked them how period poverty is affecting their lives. The numbers are staggering.

We’re sharing these results with you today because this data belongs to our community. It is the foundation of our advocacy, and we believe it will strengthen yours too. A Virginia state mandate requires period products to be in schools. We must fight for compliance.

199,320 pads. That looks like TWELVE PALLETS that staff and volunteers took a morning to load into our warehouse. But more importantly: it looks like dignity and opportunity for almost 8,000 women and girls.

Thanks to an incredible donation from Kotex (United States), coordinated by Alliance for Period Supplies, Sylvia’s Sisters just received the largest single product donation in our history, and it’s heading straight to the people in our community who need it most. This means students, women in recovery, survivors, and so many others across Central Virginia will have one less thing to worry about this month.

That’s a wrap on our annual Period Supplies Drive! 🎉📦💞

We had the absolute best time teaming up with Sylvia’s Sisters for our period supply kit-packing event. With the help of our donors and volunteers, hundreds of young menstruators in our local schools will have the essential products they need to face the next school year with confidence, dignity, and a lot less stress.

A massive thank you to everyone who donated much-needed pads, tampons, leggings, sweatpants and underwear and to all of our amazing volunteers who rolled up their sleeves and got to work with the BEST energy. (Shoutout to Dr. Bagley's 4-legged menstrual mascot bringing the emotional support!🐾)

This is what community looks like in action. Together, we are tackling period poverty and making sure no student has to miss class just because of a period. 💪💖
