That’s a wrap on our annual Period Supplies Drive! 🎉📦💞

We had the absolute best time teaming up with Sylvia’s Sisters for our period supply kit-packing event. With the help of our donors and volunteers, hundreds of young menstruators in our local schools will have the essential products they need to face the next school year with confidence, dignity, and a lot less stress.

A massive thank you to everyone who donated much-needed pads, tampons, leggings, sweatpants and underwear and to all of our amazing volunteers who rolled up their sleeves and got to work with the BEST energy. (Shoutout to Dr. Bagley's 4-legged menstrual mascot bringing the emotional support!🐾)

This is what community looks like in action. Together, we are tackling period poverty and making sure no student has to miss class just because of a period. 💪💖

Thanks to WTVR CBS 6 News for highlighting the importance of our fight against period poverty and the incredible U by Kotex donation!

A local nonprofit fighting period poverty received a donation of 197,168 period products from U by Kotex Tuesday.

"We have a waiting list of almost 17,000 girls, so we are going to be able to take some of those girls off of our waiting list, which is an amazing feeling."

Today is Sylvia Namukasa’s birthday! Our namesake has spent her life proving that one person, rooted in community, can change what’s possible for the girls around her.

In Uganda, many girls drop of out of school once they hit puberty. And managing your period safely requires clean water, which is a consistent problem in rural Uganda. Without water, reusable pads can’t be cleaned. That’s why Sylvia’s Sisters has donated over a dozen water tanks to Ugandan schools since 2018 along with reusable AFRIpad kits that girls can use again and again. This quarter alone, Sylvia’s team donated 3 water tanks, hosted menstrual health education sessions, and is now preparing to welcome 250 adolescent girls on Menstrual Hygiene Day. We plan on sending each one home with a pad kit and the knowledge to use it.

In these photos and videos, you’ll see girls holding period product kits, Sylvia (in pink) leading classes and children chanting “Sylvia’s Sisters!” as a water tank is delivered to their school.

Sylvia’s work reminds us every day why this mission matters. If you’ve ever wanted to do something that reaches across the world and lands where it’s truly needed, donate today at sylviasisters.org. HAPPY BIRTHDAY SYLVIA!
