In 1999 the late Dr. Lawrence Taylor and Stephaine Taylor founded Fountain of Life Development Corporation. With the excellent administrative leadership of Dr. Queen Trice Harris, Fountain of Life quickly became a vital part of the Richmond community.
As a grassroots organization, Fountain of Life has always made meeting the needs of those around us a priority. Transitional housing facilities, substance abuse programs and feeding programs are just some of the ways Fountain has remained relevant over the years.
In 2006, Fountain of Life acquired property on the Southside of Richmond. In 2022 after assessing the needs of the residents in our immediate vicinity, Levi's Community Kitchen (LCK), a flagship program addressing the needs of those that are struggling with food insecurity became a reality.
Uniquely, LCK prioritizes feeding residents of South Richmond cooked meals, restaurant style regardless of their financial status or housing conditions.
Additionally, when residents come to LCK they are able to gain access to navigators that help to connect community members to resources like clothing, housing and hygiene products.
Today, Fountain of Life has acquired and successfully maintains over 1.2 million dollars in assets.
Essential to the growth and success of a thriving urban oasis, Fountain has three additional programs coming Spring 2024 that are especially noteworthy. Our substance abuse program, inclusive community training and local community garden will become staples that many residents depend on.
It is imperative that we continue this work!
