❤️ An Update on Cynthia ❤️

Ken has shared a new update on Cynthia, and wanted to share it with all of you.

Cynthia recently celebrated her birthday on August 3. She is still recovering from her stroke and is doing about the same. Some days her speech is quite clear, while other days communicating is more difficult. Recovery is slow, but there are still little steps forward to be grateful for.

One of the most touching things in Ken's update is that Cynthia knows how many people are supporting her. She has been able to tell Ken how grateful she is for all the help and for all the wonderful people who have been there for her. The cards, prayers, kind messages, and donations have meant so much to her.

Many of you have followed Cynthia and Bee Holistic Cat Rescue and Care for years. You know how much of her life she has devoted to helping animals who needed someone to care for them. Right now, Cynthia is the one who needs our help.

An Update on Cynthia ❤️

We wanted to let everyone know that Ken, her husband, has posted a new update on Cynthia's GoFundMe last week.

The good news is that Cynthia is making progress, little by little. Her speech is becoming clearer, she's enjoying short visits with family and friends, and every small step forward gives us hope. She still has a long road of rehabilitation ahead, but she continues to move forward one day at a time.

Ken also wanted to express how grateful they both are for the incredible outpouring of love, prayers, encouragement, and donations. Your support has meant more than words can say.

For many years, Bee Holistic Cat Rescue and Care has been a reflection of Cynthia's heart. She has dedicated countless hours to rescuing abandoned, injured, sick, and vulnerable cats, giving them the care and safety they deserved. So many animals have had a second chance because of her compassion.

On June 26 Cynthia suffered a severe hemorrhagic stroke. She is now in a rehabilitation facility beginning the long journey of recovery, and her husband Ken is by her side while navigating the many challenges that come with this unexpected crisis.

Many supporters of the rescue have asked how you can help. Ken has created a GoFundMe to help with Cynthia's medical care, rehabilitation, and ongoing support.

This fundraiser is not for the rescue — it is to help Cynthia and Ken with the overwhelming medical and rehabilitation expenses they are facing.

She was my sister's cat

My sister died and left behind a cat. Her cat. A little living being who had made the last two years of my sister's life bearable, little less lonely. Now, what happens to that cat?

I do Rescue – of course I would take care of Emma. My sister knew this, she and I had planned ahead so that there was never going to be a doubt, Emma would be taken care of. How many people make sure to create a plan for their companion animals, in case they die first?

It's part of my adoption application for any creature I am placing, if you die who will take care of your pet? And I ask for the name and phone number of that person so it's part of the record. Because one of the true heartaches of Rescue is seeing the number of times the human has died and no one stepped up for the cat/dog/bird...

I brought Emma home and gave her three weeks to just settle, getting to know her personally and understand what kind of home she needed. And then I talked to applicants who were good people but not the right fit for her. Then one day I remembered a couple who had taken in a 14-year-old, semi feral cat who was being abandoned after her human died. They gave her a wonderful life for another four years – and let me know she died earlier this year. They thanked me for trusting them to adopt her❤️

One text later "have you considered adopting another?" gave the response that let me know Emma was on the road to a truly perfect home. This little door dasher went from a tiny home with no outdoor access to a two level home with a giant catio- she settled in almost immediately and two weeks later she now owns the home❤️❤️❤️

There really is nothing more meaningful than that last gift you can give the person who died - making sure the little one they loved is cared for. Please, do make sure if someone you love dies and leaves behind a beloved pet, she is not forgotten. And ask everyone you know, "if you die before your pet, have you made a plan for her?" The biggest mistake people make is assuming their family will take care of their pet – don't assume. And don't put it off – do it today, because sometimes tomorrow never comes.

The Ohio Supreme Court just made a landmark ruling — hurting a stray or outdoor cat is now a criminal offense, the same as harming a beloved family pet.

For a long time, animals without registered owners fell into a legal gray zone, leaving them vulnerable with little real protection. That changes now. The court's decision sends a clear message: it doesn't matter if a cat has a cozy home or roams the neighborhood — every single one of them deserves to be safe.

This ruling was sparked by a devastating cruelty case involving a kitten, and it's now laying down a firm legal foundation for cases that come after it. Animal welfare advocates are celebrating it as a massive step forward for vulnerable animals across the board.
