Yesterday, two Virginia PTA Board members had the privilege of presenting a session on PTA partnerships with school district leaders and educators at Alexandria City Public Schools's Leadership Academy as educators prepare for the new school year.

The group had a wonderful conversation about building strong
relationships between parents, caregivers, and educators, embracing advocacy that benefits the entire school community, as well as had the opportunity to collaborate to solve problems of practice in real time.

It was a great opportunity to reinforce the purpose and mission of PTA as not only an organization that supports schools, but as a partner in nurturing, educating, and inspiring every child.

Thank you to ACPS for the opportunity to connect with so many
dedicated educators. We hope to have many of them collaborate with us in this important work together throughout the year and join us at Capitol Day in January!

We love working with our legislators!

Today, I met with members of the Virginia PTA to receive the 2026 Child Advocate of the Year award and to discuss school breakfast for all and a path to fully funding our schools through a student-based funding formula. I am so grateful for their support and committed advocacy.

Last month, we were thrilled to present Senator Elizabeth Bennett-Parker with the Virginia PTA 2026 Child Advocate of the Year Award. We have appreciated her taking the charge to sponsor legislation that will fund public school breakfast for all students in the Commonwealth, one of VA PTA's main priorities for the upcoming legislative year. We look forward to working with her again this year, and appreciated her taking the time to discuss the PTA priorities in addition to accepting the award.
