RYSE creates safe spaces grounded in social justice that builds youth power for young people
to love, learn, educate, heal and transform lives and communities. About RYSE:
RYSE is a safe and welcoming center for diverse West Contra Costa youth (ages 13 to 21) that seeks to build youth power and leadership towards the larger vision of personal and community health and transformation. Grounded in social justice values and principles, RYSE provides comprehensive and holistic programming and promotes multi-racial, cross-cultural relationships. RYSE opened its doors in October 2008, and features programming and services across areas of community health; education and career; juvenile justice; media, arts & culture; and youth leadership and organizing.

RYSE will be closed today, October 9, for Restoration Day, and Monday, October 12, in observance of Indigenous Peoples’ Day.

On Indigenous Peoples’ Day, we honor the histories, cultures, resilience, and ongoing struggles for sovereignty and liberation of Indigenous communities all over the world. We recognize that Indigenous peoples are not just part of our history, but continue to shape our present and future.

RYSE turns 18 on October 18! For nearly two decades, young people have been at the center of RYSE, shaping a vision for a world rooted in healing, belonging, justice, and liberation. This birthday celebrates all that it takes to make it to 18, while looking ahead to the work still before us.

Through our Leading With Love campaign, we’re inviting our community to raise $18,000 for the RYSE Youth Emergency Fund, providing immediate support for young people and families navigating crisis, including help with housing, meals, utilities, transportation, and other basic needs. Your support helps make space for young people to heal, grow, build power, and dream about what’s next. Lead with love with us and celebrate 18 years of RYSE!

This year, RYSE lifts up the voices and wisdom of 150+ Richmond young people through youth-led research, Listening Campaign 2.0. Young people shared what they’re experiencing, what’s getting in the way of their ability to thrive, and what they believe adults and systems need to do differently.
